Brendan Rodgers

Every manager has a dozen articles detailing how wonderful they are, how amazing their methods are etc.

It's easy to get carried away when reading them but I think it's worth remembering that.

Dated Mar 2012:

Brendan Rodgers's phone will constantly buzz this summer with tempting offers for his managerial alchemy. Those suitors will, he says, be disappointed. With the recent passing of both his parents offering perspective and with the contentment of life in south Wales, Swansea City's manager is going nowhere soon.

After Fulham were handed a 3-0 lesson of kaleidoscope passing – they were allowed only 38.1% possession in front of their home crowd – Rodgers was asked how easy it would be to stay at Swansea beyond this season. "Very, very simple. The sea is beautiful there, it's a beautiful part of the world," he said. "I'm allowed to work, I'm the manager of the club. There's no political games, there's nothing.

"I've learnt I have my health – I lost both my parents in the last 18 months or so and that put a massive perspective on my life. My family's happy. As you can see I love working with the team and the players. There's no doubt somewhere along the line in the next 30 years – I'm 39 so hopefully I'm going to be around a long time – if I keep working well maybe the chance [will come] later on. But my only focus and my only respect is with Swansea City. I signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and I love being here."

Reports out of Italy linking him to Lazio for the past week or two.

Good decision for him to learn Italian.

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has joined Gianfranco Zola, Carlos Dunga and Rafa Benitez in the race for the Lazio job.

The Olimpico club need a new tactician after Edy Reja called it quits, but President Claudio Lotito has not yet found a replacement.

Names such as Brazilian Dunga and ex-West Ham United boss Zola have been bandied about along with Sassuolo Coach Fulvio Pea.

The latest surprise entry into the race is Swansea manager Rodgers, who is also in the running for the Liverpool job.

Rodgers has taken the Swans to promotion and an 11th place finish in the Premier League, while he was called by Jose Mourinho in 2004 to take charge of Chelsea’s youth team.

Another alternative, according to the Corriere dello Sport, is ex-Liverpool and Inter boss Benitez.

The Spaniard has been out of work since his six-month stint at San Siro in 2010, although he is also considering proposals from the Premier League.

His nickname is "Buck Rodgers".... which he seems to have been living up to literally...

So we have Buck Rodgers and an assortment of posters like myself that can verify that Carnlough is a great place for a 99 - and there's a good chippy opposite the harbour as well.

The only downside..... he played for Ballymena Hey.

I'm still convinced he's the man though.
