Did we? Do we?
It doesn't really look like we were prepared does it?, i was never convinced we were going to sell him this summer if all had been normal and what has happened since his departure hasn't changed those thoughts.
If we knew all along we were going to sell him this summer then what is going on? why don't we seem to have any real targets yet?
The thing is regardless of the owners wanting to sell him or not this summer there should have been some sort of plan in place as to what would happen if he did leave as it was always a possibility, although there is no-one that can directly replace him surely at the bare minimum there were some attacking players earmarked? even if it was just incase.
Rodgers has said Markovic was on his way anyway and wasn't anything to do with Suarez leaving, put a line through Lambert as obviously he is nothing to do with it, Remy looked like an option that was thought of after Suarez left.
We tried and failed to get Sanchez, that is the only genuine attempt at solving the problem as far as i can see and if that was part of a pre thought-out plan then it was a piss poor planning, it doesn't look like it was part of any plan but an obvious opportunity at salvaging something good from a shit situation, fair play we tried, we had to try but it didn't work, what now?, we are still waiting.
Can't help but think we were not going to sell him, my guess is the owners thought if there were anymore acts of madness then he's gone and that's what happened, no-one really knows that exact ins and outs of his contract and that clause, tbh none of that really matters now but what does matter is trying to fill the giant hole he left and from evidence so far we look clueless on how to fill it.
