Was just reading the BBC web site and saw Florent Malouda has been released.

He's only 29.

I'm surprised he hasn't been snapped up.

Would you take him on a free?

He is 33 mate. Lazy fucker and not very good in general nowadays. No thanks.

Decent player a few years ago though.

Who did we land instead of flo moo? Around same time? Like when we landed Cisse and they got drogba or when we landed Rafa and they got Maureen.... Could have gone either way

Despite the treatment he received, he released a respectful statement upon his release.

Florent Malouda has put the way Chelsea treated him last season to one side and says he is proud of his achievements at the club.

The French winger is out of contract and free to join a new team this summer after being made to train with the academy players for an entire year.

His last appearance came in the Champions League final which Chelsea won in Germany against Bayern Munich.

The club, who tried to force him out last summer, were angry when he would not leave and banished him from the first-team squad.

But Malouda, 32, wrote on his website: 'It’s been a real pleasure and an honor to wear the blue shirt for 5 years.

'Coming from Lyon after four successful years with as many champion titles, it was a real challenge to sign for Chelsea FC with the ambition to succeed in the best league in the world: the English Premier League.

'One of the main reason why I decided to sign for this club was to win the European Champions League and I couldn’t imagine a better scenario than winning the best club trophy in the world for my last Chelsea game.

'Over the five years I’ve defended the club’s colors, I’ve really enjoyed the great moments I lived amongst players and technical staff with the aim to deserve the daily support from our loyal fans, and I always tried to make them proud.

'Every good thing must come to an end, and even if I had to wait for a whole season at the club’s academy, I’m very proud of all my achievements as a Chelsea player.

'I’m free now to carry on my career, so I wish all the best to all my blue friends; I’ll always support Chelsea FC.'

Thats the sort of loyalty you rarely see these days, I mean he loved the club so much he was prepared to spend an entire season withe academy team just to stay at the club, what a guy

Its a shame all players leave in the end, even the ones who are desperate stay

Well I guess he stayed because no other club would pay him the salary he was on at CFC. It would have worked out better for all if CFC had paid off 50% of his salary and let him go to another club willing to stump up 50%. It was pretty despicable to stick him in the academy for that.

*coughs up pelvic bone and left fibula* He had one good season for Chelsea (who he chose over us I recall) since then he's been a merde sac. He's old, probably on a pretty penny and he's rubbish. Fuck me Dreamy we are not QPR!
