Jerzy Dudek's swansong

Comes out of retirement (albeit temporarily) for his 60th cap in testimony match against Liechtenstein on Tuesday, in which he played for around 30 mins.

Dudek played 34 minutes before being replaced by Artur Boruc, and fans chanted thanks to the 40-year-old, wishing him 'sto lat' (a hundred years) as he left the pitch.

He was indeed a great bloke, and someone who played an absolutely vital role in our greatest night ever. Some on here have too short memories when it comes to The Dude, concentrating on his admittedly ropey league form in the latter part of his time with us as if that were all there was to his LFC career.

I liked him. He was a brilliant shot stopper but I think his form started slipping after his mistake in that dull defeat away to Boro (I hate that place - we always seem to stumble there). More than made up for his dodgy form against the Mancs with the heroics at Istanbul. It has to be said though, that he did come off the goal line early for the saves against Pirlo and Shevchenko for the shootout - but who cares, the assistant ref was napping and we're celebrating. Ha!

I have wonderful memories of Dudek.

His handling lacked him down on occasions, but he had cat-like reflexes which made him stand out from other goalkeepers. The very best GK's win you games by making saves that no other man could. Dudek was one of them.
