Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has paid tribute to Jordan Henderson after the club accepted a bid from Liverpool for the player.

The Black Cats have accepted a sizeable offer for the England international from the Merseyside club, as revealed on safc.com this morning.

Chairman Quinn, who has seen Henderson rise through the club's Academy system, says he holds the player in the highest regard but feel the terms of the deal are right for the club.

And he says a clear plan is in place to make best use of the club's resources with the search for new talent hotting up.

"Jordan is a credit to himself, his family and Sunderland's Academy and everyone here wishes him the very best for the future," he said.

" I am pleased that we got the deal to a level that we felt was right for our club. We know the areas that need strengthening and the type of player we need in order to progress and the job of bringing those players to the club is continuing at a pace."

Who are the best wingers in the world who would possibly move again? I forget.

Hazard, Sanchez? Not saying we'll be in for them, never mind get them but looks like they'll be moving. They'd be widely considered as being the best available.

No mention of N'Gog

Skysports:

Peter Beardsley has encouraged Jordan Henderson to learn all he can from Kenny Dalglish if he completes his much-expected move to Liverpool.

The Sunderland midfielder is negotiating personal terms with the Merseyside outfit after the two clubs agreed a deal that would see the Black Cats receive around £20million and Reds striker David N'Gog.

And ex-Liverpool star Beardsley - who played under Anfield boss Dalglish from 1987-91 - says the Scot would be a perfect role model for England-Under 21 star Henderson.

"Kenny's a good, shrewd manager," Beardsley told Sky Sports News. "And if Liverpool have got Jordan Henderson, they've obviously got an outstanding young player.

"And I would say to him: 'Listen to Kenny Dalglish'. I had four years there and he was sensational in every respect.

"His application to the job and his attitude to being manager of that football club is special.

"If he's not the greatest player Liverpool have ever had, he's certainly in the top three and because of that people should listen to him."

Dalglish retook the Anfield reins in January following the dismissal of Roy Hodgson and lifted the Reds from the bottom half to sixth in the Premier League.

And Beardsley says that the 60-year-old deserves terrific credit for galvanising the club.

"Kenny has got unbelievable enthusiasm, an unbelievable ability to spot players, nurture them and improve them, he's different class," said Beardsley

"I've not had the opportunity to say well done to him for what he's done so far but he's been fantastic. He was the perfect appointment for Liverpool."

Hopefully Beardo meant £20 mill.including Wash.

Nice words from him there about the King BTW.

Funnily enough, my lad said this to me this morning that it was £20m PLUS N'Gog, I had to check here to make sure he was wrong..

Liverpool believed the hype and have paid over the odds for Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8563634/Liverpool-believed-the-hype-and-have-paid-over-the-odds-for-Sunderland-midfielder-Jordan-Henderson.html

the bottom line is that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is not paying for the here and now. He is paying for the future but £20 million seems well over the odds for raw talent.

You would expect £20 million to secure proven talent rather than be used to gamble on someone who looked out of his depth on his full England debut last November in the 2-1 defeat by France.

The 6ft 2in Henderson struggled at Wembley which was a surprise given that, according to Bruce, he was the “the biggest, the best young British footballer there is”.

Makes you wonder how much Jack Wilshere would be worth if Manchester United set their sights on the Arsenal midfielder.

Shit stirring aplenty there. We have paid over the odds, but the last comment is just pointless.

It was all reasonably believable until the last sentence. Whatever prick wrote that is obviously a manc fan. Im sure the gooners would love reading it too.

United paid... whatwasit? £18m for Carrick and he's always looked out of his depth in an Ingerlund shirt. Crap article! Overpaying is the only way to get talented young English players.

Looks like Brown Nose Bruce has spent most of the wedge we just gave them.

12 million bid accepted for Brown, O'Shea and Gibson according to a Manc mate.

i guarantee the mancs weren't arsed about henderson then. all the 'pissing off fergie with this signing' stuff is silly (mainly seen on rawk).

Fuck me, three players for 12m? Those three players are worth wayyyy more than that.

Six points a season more...

Modric (vs. Henderson) stats:

Assists - 3 (4)
Goals - 3 (3)

Henderson assists breakdown:
Attack assists:
Open play: 47
Set piece: 31

Goal Assists:
Open play: 4
Total: 82

In the 2010/11 PL season, Jordan Henderson created 39 more chances than any of his Sunderland teammates.

Like Carroll, we're putting a lot of faith in developing this player to be worth and to justify the fee that has been paid. And I've got no idea how he's going to fit into the team.

Let's hope it all works out.

Of course not, but they'd want to play in the ladies team or take out splinters from their arses even less.

If a club accepts an offer for you you might as well leave because you won't be getting many chances again. Especially when the manager is as much of an arse as Ferguson.
