True, but the whole "common sense" nonsense stems from the media, and even then the game wasn't quite as media-driven as it's since become.

Your post was shit. You got told. You didn't like it. Bad luck. Sturridge has been shite pretty much since he came back. He looked laboured and disinterested yesterday. Yes he scored, but he, along with many others, were not up to scratch.

We never pressed their full-backs once, mostly because we were so fucking deep.

- Moreno looked like he'd won a competition to get a game before kick off. And Balotelli can well and truly get fucked.

- Credit to those cunts though. They bossed the shit out of us in that first 45. Mata's fucking wonderful, but I thought Carrick ran the entire show. Top player.

I said we had to stop Carrick to stop them. We didn't. The result was inevitable. Love the Moreno analogy. Sean was almost apoplectic about him!

The yellow in these cases is for "Unsportsman-like Conduct" not for a deliberate handball. All handballs by definition are supposed to be deliberate. The rule is actually called "Deliberate handling of the ball". The interpretation of this has been expanded to putting yourself in an "unnatural" position to increase your likelihood of "handling the ball", which leads to all the discussion about arms being up or out, etc.

Anyway, I actually think that DiMaria did deserve a yellow, because he was trying to gain an advantage by catching the ball quickly and making a throw-in. And, not waiting for the ball to be clearly out was not sportsman-like, which is the same as when goal keepers push the edge of their areas. They are seeking an advantage on the edge of the rules and if they misjudge they have broken the rules with intent.
 
Can't remember the last time I walked away from Anfield so angry and frustrated. fucking tame effort against our biggest rivals on our own patch.

We played that first half like we were away at Barca or Madrid...let them have tons of space, no tempo, nobody getting amongst it. Despite United's problems, you just can't be allowing likes of Carrick, Herrera and Mata the freedom of Anfield. Unacceptable and inexcusable.

The Gerrard sending off incident has been discussed enough already but what a sorry and sad sight it was to see him trudge down the tunnel. The long goodbye was always going to be tough but that sorta thing compounds matters even more.

those are the rules for a goalscoring opportunity, if a keeper makes an error of judgement and accidentally picks up or handles the ball outside the box, when not in particular danger, they still get booked, it's happened throughout football. How do you judge it? It's down to the player to get their decision correct, otherwise you may aswell put a whole grey area over mistimed tackles, because it's just an accident down to misjudgement and unintentional (or is it?).

For all we know, Di Maria was trying it on to keep the attack going, he thought he could get away with it, ergo, it's a card.
 
There were plenty of shit decisions yesterday. Liverpool were poor but the standard of refereeing was equally so, I'm amazed that alot of people in the press and on social networks and forums seem intent on shooting down people questioning the officiating, as an act of deflecting blame for the performance. It's two separate issues completely, you can criticize the officials and the performance.

And as said, if Skrtel's is a stamp worthy of a ban, why wasn't Costa reprimanded for the second stamp at Stamford Bridge? Why has he got away with elbow after elbow all season? Why wasn't Rooney at least booked for his swipe at Mignolet?
 
The most annoying part of Sunday for me was that after all the hard work we had put in, chipping away at united's lead over us ( down from ten points at Christmas to two), and putting ourselves in a position where a win would have put us in the top four, we put in such an abject display.

I've said all along, when people were bemoaning our opposition getting lucky wins or draws, that we should just worry about our own games and eventually we will get ourselves in a position to apply the coup de grace. We didn't even look bothered. As for Stevie. Fucking hell. Apologies welcome but not worth a fuck!
And its not an excuse at all but Atkinson is a disgrace.
 
It's also maddening that the mancs are up so high after the season they've had. I know they say the table never lies but it damn well does! They've picked up points, time and again, without deserving it, and in this instance that isn't a sign of a good side, it's a sign of a side having one of the flukiest seasons in living memory. They're coming into real form now but they should be doing so from a mid-table position.
