Thanks mate. I guess it'll all depend on what time we actually get out of Heathrow.

We're just going to play it by ear when we get there.

There are plenty of options it seems. Planes, trains, and automobiles. What could go wrong?

So the latest is that there's another BA flight leaving a couple of hours after the original time of my flight, but 3hrs earlier than current estimate.

So I switched to that flight. Means I no longer get WiFi and an A380, but it does mean that I'll arrive (fingers crossed) at Heathrow at 7:20 and everything gets back on track.

Wait until you have just passed over Dublin & then fake a heart attack - they'll make an emergency landing at Speke, and you're sorted

So far, so good! The stressful bits are all out of the way now. Just chilling in an airport lounge waiting for boarding.

12hrs from now, I should be landing in Lahndan

How's the other flight looking now? More delayed? When you said it was already 4.5 hours late yesterday I thought it might be totally fucked

Seems it was delayed due to a delay on the London to JHB leg, so only that plane affected today. It's still scheduled for 4.5 later than originally.

Is it a European airline? If it is, you're entitled to some money back.

It's British Airways. Their offer was a full refund, or a free change in booking.

I guess if I was still on the delayed flight I could have pushed for compensation, but opted for the flight change.

And you didn't change it to include a manc transfer? Doh

That wouldn't have been possible online. I'd rather take the train to Liverpool than speak to another BA representative right now.

This way we should be fine for the noon train and be at the hotel by 3pm.

I used to enjoy the Virgin first class train ride to Liverpool. Was really cheap when booked in advance too. Is that still the case?

It’s luck of the draw really. Sometimes it’s £150+ extra when they only offer a few buttys for the food.

    I paid about 70 quid.

Someone mentioned Heathrow Express to get to Euston. That's another 50?

In the last few months I’ve got first class cheaper than standard and got a decent breakfast in an almost empty carriage. Other times it’s expensive with a shit selection of food and busy. Luck of the draw I guess.

You're just as well on the tube. Heathrow express is great if you need to get to Paddington but then you've got to fuck about getting from there to Euston.

Exciting thread - like a real-time road movie.

(Be careful if Steven Segal gets on at Birmingham ... :) ).

Ha, in that case I'll keep the updates coming.

The tube was a good call. Had a little pub lunch in Euston (along with probably the nicest non alcoholic beer I've ever had)

Now on board the train to Liverpool, waiting for them to fix an issue with the power converter... And they just announced that this train may not be able to go anywhere...

Ha, we we're just talking about how smoothly things were going since the British Airways debacle. Tempted fate I guess.

Any which way, I'm getting closer and closer... [IMG]
