I know nothing about this subject but thought I'd see if any of you guys do.
My mate has been doing it for a while and makes a decent profit out of it, for probably 1hr a night. He signed up for a website/facebook thing which cost him 80quid for a year, but he made that back inside the first few days of using their tips.
From what I can make out, it all revolves around making the most out of all of the online bookies specials or offers. Something (simplified) like if you back x game for 10quid, then they give you 30quid back regardless of the outcome - so you put the bet on, lose, but then cash straight out your 30quid regardless. And there's loads of others they give out like free spins on online roulette, so sign up for free, maybe get a winner at no cost to yourself, just don't put any money in. I think they also provide some Arb betting info and tips too.

I know it sounds a bit too good to be true, but wondered if any of you are doing it? Is it the 'new' Arb betting seeing as that has become more difficult?

Ok, well I've signed up for this shit. Looks like no one on here has done it.
I'll let you know how I get on.
I'm kinda bypassing the waiting element and building the pot element, so I've put in 480 of my own money so far today, 99% of which is already on it's way back to me, shouldn't start getting my profit until the middle of next week when the bookies offers cash.

I'm still a bit confused about this Mors. Is it to do with the enhanced prices some bookies offer to attract new customers i.e. Back United at 5/1 to win at home to Spurs etc? If so then it is possible to win a few quid but it seems a lot of effort opening accounts with many, many companies for a limited return. The bookies restrict you to very small stakes on these opening offers and even though you can probably make a few quid at first it does seem like too much hassle for my liking. Keep us informed anyway.

I'm not sure how I'll do it 100% with the more complicated bets like acca's etc but I know you can. I'm aiming to retain ~75% of whatever free bets any bookies are offering, risk free. I'm achieving that at the moment apart from one stitch up from paddypower where they dropped my 4/1 into a 7/2 because of 3 non-runners, so that dropped me down to about 35% on that particular offer.
I know it looks a lot of effort on the outside, but if you've got enough credit in your laying account, and enough credit to earn the bonuses, it's about 3mins work per bet once the accounts are open. And obviously another 2mins to keep a spreadsheet updated if you want to do your book keeping.

    *edit*

+600 on investment over ~24hrs. So all my money back plus another 600ish. I don't think that's sustainable obviously, and I had to put in ~500 to get it out that quick.
I'll see how I get on this week.

Allsorts! I wasn't taking the bets on any level of understanding what I was betting on, but much like arbing, I was just looking at how close the prices were with the bookies and the exchange. Tried to make sure I got my wins in the exchange though off the lays, not with the bookies, in order not to get my accounts shut down. Only problem is you've got to make sure you've got plenty in your exchange account if you have to lay off a 50 bet at 10/1 etc.

I've not updated this for some time, so I'll do a mini one!
I blatted through most of the easy signup offers, and other easy/basic/low-risk offers, and cleared 2k in my first 4-6wks. I was then away for 2ks on holiday so didn't get a chance to do anything. Since I've been back, the main source of income for me on it, that I can justify* is doing accumulators. A good figure for me to aim for on each 50quid acca is ~10quid profit, but because of the european games and having a bit of football knowledge to make better judgement on things, I've averaged between 30-70quid per acca, about 70 this week, more like 30 the first week I started doing them.
There are people I know doing ~150 acca's a week, and averaging 10quid per acca, so about 6k a month tax free, but at that point you've gotta jack your job in as it becomes time too consuming. If I was doing 150 a week, then this week I'd have just over 10k profit, but obviously that isn't going to happen. I don't plan on ramping up to that level, but I am going to be increasing the amount I'm doing.
One of the main problems with the acca's is the amount of liability you have to carry in the exchange potentially, so a 50quid acca might mean you need say 300quid spare in the exchange incase things go wrong and your acca wins.

    * - When I say justify, there are other profitable things out there like bingo bonuses, casino, and the c4 horse racing, but it seems a lot of faff and time for the average expected return.

Fair play Mors, it looks like you're onto something. The only thing is, as you mention, the time required to ramp this up to decent profit levels would require full-time involvement and it represents too big a risk for most people to give up their job to do this full time.

Are you using some sort of algorithm bot or doing all the maths/bets in your head because miscalculations could prove very costly.

A bit of both to be honest mate, I've got a spreadsheet to calculate my liability etc and compound losses for acca's etc, and tell me what size bet I should put on next, but, I only use that as a guide, I have to use my own judgement really on a lot of them to under/over lay. e.g their star striker is out etc.
This is why I had us down to lose/draw last night, I over-layed us as I didn't think we'd be able to score goals with Origi up top, but I'd also backed us to win.
And you're right, cocking it up can be very costly, my worst one so far was probably -200quid due to my lay not getting matched when I was new to betfair, I then recovered that by gambling on the exchange and was lucky I got it all back the same night.

Me and a work colleague were talking about doing this, until we found out that there's just one bookmaker here! They have a monopoly. Obviously some government officials got a nice envelope stuffed with cash for that one. As far as I know there's only two betting websites that you can access here.

You could look up 'gnoming' ;) I'm not saying that's legal or that you should do it, but you'd need a close friend or family member, that's located in the uk, that is willing to share with you scans of their passport/bank statements/utility bills etc

Yeah, I guess it can be for people outside the uk wanting to do the uk targeted bookies. I'm gonna teach the brother in law how to do it over xmas and he's living in austria, he seems to think there's loads of bookies available.
Have you ever tried signing up to one of the main bookies whilst in greece? e.g paddy power, ladbrokes, will hill, or anything? Does it say it wont allow you? I've never tried it but thought the robbing bastards would let you sign up anywhere EU.

Aye, the only one from the UK that you can sign up with is bet 365, as far as I remember.

They've probably come to some sort of agreement with the Greek government. No doubt another big fat envelope was given over as part of the deal.

I started doing this a little over a month ago. Really happy with the profits. Check out Yesbets, that's who I use. They do all the bet tracking, balances and profit stuff for you, so no need for a spreadsheet, which is ideal as I'm very lazy, the video tutorials are great too. Here's a screenshot of my month so far.

Why don't you try to get some of your friends to sign up? Many bookies offer you money around £50-£100 for every one you can get to join them. Both you and your freind get the bonus after he/she bet xx amount.

I and some of my freinds used it a lot. I offered them to sign up on for example Unibet and one of my friends then offered us to join another bookie and so on.
