If Lovren (hopefully) goes in the summer we will need a decent back up, I don't think any of the reserves are ready.
It's weird that, of all players in such a physically intense team, it's most often the CBs who seem to get crocked. Every season we rarely seem to have more than two fit at any one time between about November and March, and then there are these incidents. I guess we're just unlucky with the individuals, but it's a bit odd.
Lovren is shite and Matip is made of biscuits
I hope so too, though admittedly without knowing a great deal about any of the reserve centre backs, I am sure at least one of them must be an improvement on Lovren. He just seems to get worse.
Pretty sure having Koulibaly and Van Dijk as CBs in the same team is outlawed by the Geneva convention.
Cue all the 'but they both play left side of centre back' brigade.
And the 'we aren't spending £70m on a defender'.
Would love Koulibaly, but it's unlikely.
I would consider going for one of Spurs’ unsettled CBs.
Also, who was that shit-hot young English centre-half we were supposedly tracking in the Championship?
Koulibaly is 29 though, so not sure if we would even consider that. But he's boss.
If I could chose I'd go for Upamecano or Ozan Kabak. Both have been fantastic in the Bundesliga. Upamecano would cost a shitload.
That cameo in the derby summed him up perfectly.
doh. Well I know van der whatever his name is is rubbish
At 17 or whatever he is, Hoever already looks better !
I see what you did there..
best time to be injured I guess.
Oncey had his tip out for seasons and we never won the league.
One wonders if this will be the spur to send Klopp into the market for a CB and let Lovren go.
Decent player but fitness is always a worry. We need to sell Lovren and but a decent young upcoming CB. Joe and virg are a great first choice pairing.
