    I stopped watching at 0-5.

We were as dead as that squirrel. (Anybody?)

It was over. We were going to get swept out of our own park to lose the series with barely a squeak. Embarrassing, it was.

I got stuck into some work for tomorrow, and was packing up for bed. Amy was calling me... I decided to check espn.com, just to see how bad it was now...

I got here in time to watch the 9th.

That is the single stupidest, craziest, most impossible thing I have ever seen.

And, second only to Istanbul, the most beautiful.

We couldn't do it three times, could we..?

You did it against the Yanks, why not against the Rays?

We're a FAR different, older, slower and less intimidating team now than we were then, amigo...

Anything is possible, and with these guy, I'll never believe that it's over until the champagne is flying, but if we pull this one off, I'd put it up there as (almost) as unlikely as 2004.

    Almost.

What a comeback .... I had to get up at 6 this morning otherwise i would have stayed up to watch it. Gutted i missed it.

I wonder will the young Rays crack after that result?

    Possible.

But they've shown tremendous mental strength all season - I doubt it.

    But I hope so...

Just texted my kid brother - He recorded game 5, but didn't get to watch it until now...

Poor bastard is crying into his beer, cos it's only the 6th inning - Thinks we're goimg out 'tonight'.

Do I put him out of his misery, or allow him the pure , unadulterated joy of sticking through it?

Rays win 3-1, Garza pitches a gem.

I don't mind who wins to be honest, there are very few teams in baseball that I'd begrudge them a bit of success.

The better team won, fair and square.

That's what usually happens in a 7 game series.

I was impressed with our heart, when all seemed lost. And we had chances last night, that we squandered, but overall, the result was a fair one.

I think we'll see a minor shake up in the off-season, with a big name or two setting down (or at least seeing less playing time). Big Papi is a shadow of his former self (though there are reports that he was 'more injured' than initially reported during the play-offs. Schilling has pitched his last game for us, I'm almost certain.

And the unkindest cut of all, my favourite player ever, Jason Varitek has become such a liability at bat, that we essentially forfiet an entire inning everytime he plays. We either need to get a new catcher, or beef up our line up to where we can live with that loss. NOTE: He is still, without doubt, the game's best defensive catcher, from a "call the game" perspective, and will one day make a great manager.

Might be quite a rebuilding year for us next year, with Mike Lowell's long-term health in question and Wakefield the wrong side of 30 (12 years the wrong side of it!) as well.

I heard today that we're shaping up for a real run at that wanker Texiera during the winter. That would be a boost, but there'd be a heck of a shuffle involved if we get him - Either Papi or Lowell is gone.

Anyways, I will not watch one single, solitary second of the world series, and I hope that the Phillies batter Tampa. Not 'cos they beat us - I can lose to a better team... But because I have ALWAYS hated them, since they were born. Period. Second only to the Yankees.

Only 137 days until catchers and pitchers report... let's go Sox!

The summer will definitely be interesting for the Red Sox, Yankees too actually.

Baseball off season is always better than it's Premiership equivalent.

yup gonna be interesting to see what happens with trades (Peavy) etc ... I sadly expect the Skankees to make some big big splahes.

World Seires prediction: Rays in 6 IF their starters can pitch on average 6 innings a game ... if not, Phillies in 5

I think Halladay could leave the Jays this summer too. He deserves to.
