Yeah there was St Etienne or Auxerre or Istanbul.

But which one gets left out but was a quality result.

I'll start. The 1-1 away to Bayern after we'd drawn nil nil at home in 1981. The Germans thought they were through after the first leg. We were injury ravaged and they took no prisoners.

But we defended and defended and with about ten mins to go, David Johnson fed a limping Kennedy who controlled it and buried it in one go.

Rumenigge equalised with a few mins left but we held on. A true guts and hard fought result. Typical of us in Europe at that time.

Liverpool 2-1 Juve in 2005

I honestly couldn't fucking believe it. I wasn't allowed to watch it cos i'd just been arrested so i was grounded to my room. I had the radio on with the headphones in trying not to make a noise when we did anything

Haha! Now you have to tell the full story!

Here's another one. Home and away to Leverkeusen in 2005. They were a good side and we demolished them very easily in both legs.

Me and my mates got done for shoplifting porn mags and sweets aged 12. My dad was fuming and wouldn't let me watch the game!

Interesting. But I must check if you're being serious Modo? Am I about to get whooshed?

I've watched highlights from other European victories often even domestic victories, like us beating Everton in the FA cup semi's.
But that is a win that I've personally not watched that many times, I don't really remember the result either (without looking it up on wiki). 3-1 I think....
But it was big, we beat the European Champions.

Hahahahahaha! At 12? Brilliant!

We were selling Loaded mags to kids in our year for stupid money cos they were all too pussy to buy it. Apparently that was all there was to do in the suburbs. Fucking shat meself when I got caught though, thought my dad was gonna make me go deaf

Me and mates got searched by police and the army for something similar.

There was no stealing on our part, just selling porn mags.

Although these were proper porn mags, not loaded.

The 81 and 84 semi final away legs v Bayern Munich and Dynamo Bucharest.

Ah yes. Dinamo. After Souness broke Movilas jaw in the first leg. They spent the whole game trying to kill him, while we fucked off up the other end and scored 3. His socks were shredded.

They say it was one of the dirtiest games they'd played in. But it showed that if you wanted to play footie we'd beat you, if you wanted a fight, we'd still beat you. The steel of the likes of Souness, Kennedy, Case and Whelan.

Yeah we played well but it's no better than a friendly in my book. Like the charity shield. But it's your call and it's in.

Turin in 2005. Very understrength, and other than an early Zlatan sitter, we were really quite comfortable... Baros should have won it for us late on, too...

There was also a 1-0 away win at Athletico Bilboa in 84 after they'd frustrated us in the home leg that never got enough credit... A Rushie header that took 30 mins to cross the line. And the famous Graeme Souness night in Bucharest.

Oh, and we battered Benfica 4-0 in the Stadium Of Light as well.

Underrated/Forgotten Performance? I thought that game was an all time classic among Liverpool fans.

I would say the away win against Deportivo (who were a very good team) with Igor Biscan starting in midfield was more underrated.

That whole run in 2001.
Olympiakos
Roma
Bareclona
Porto
One after the other.
Thats a proper cup run that.

The funny/sad thing was that we shouldn't even have been in the tournament that season. I'd managed to pack away in some dark, distant corner of my memory, the nightmare that was the final stretch of our 1999/2000 league season until I read the Wiki entry on it. What a shit run that was in the last 5 league games, going goalless and picking up just 2 points, crashing from 2nd to 4th and losing out on the Champions League spot to Leeds by 2 points. That was some choke job we pulled there.

Of course, that set us up for the dramatic and entertaining UEFA Cup final while O'Leary's babes went on their magical run into the CL semis, their subsequent reckless spending, and eventual collapse. Funny how these things roll.

Liverpool-TNS.

After all the hoo ha about potentially not entering the Champions League due to us not finishing 4th, I felt that there was some pressure for us to do well.

We played the same number of games that season as our CL winning season despite being knocked out in the 1st knockout round. 15!

0-0 at Juve in 2005 was even more amazing - what a gritty, incredible defensive game (+ a monster miss by Zlatan) when everyone just 'knew' Juve would win 1-0 to win on away goals.

We were excellent in that game. Composed, organised and dominant. Going into the game, everyone was worried about the goal Carson conceded which meant we only needed to concede one to lose, but we were rarely troubled.
