Having said that, I'm a total fucking retard as well, because I didn;t read the original post properly.

One run-of-the-mill Premiership game vs the world cup or something?

    That's a bit trickier.

A random Prem match vs the World Cup or the Euros?

Err, I can't believe anyone would choose the Prem match.

Yep. Just a normal Prem match versus either World Cup or European cup etc.

I'd still pick a normal match. I get great satisfaction out of the tiniest Liverpool victory. I couldn't give a shit about an England win, and the fucking media spewing their load over anything positive to do with England would do my fucking nut in. It would never end. They still go on about '66 for gods sake.

I take Ireland to win the world or European cup

But if it was a big game for Liverpool i.e Champs league final, I'd go Liverpool every time

Ten years ago I'd have said England without a doubt. But I hate so many players in that team now that I'm not sure I could bear to see them win...

One almost meaningless match against a World Cup? I'd go for country, just. But if it was a more important match, there'd be no contest.

Me too, although I'm not convinced that Northern Ireland will ever get into a position that would make me choose.

Sorry I'm from the old era where we used to cross the ball to Ian Dowie and pray that when the ball bounced of his head it wouldn't hit the corner flag. We used to be happy if Michael Hughes did a trick or hit a nice free kick. The comparative success of the current team still hasn't sunk in.
