Net Spend

Liverpool look set to finish the transfer window with a net spend of around £21million.
Trying to work out the finances after a hectic summer at Anfield is complicated by the fact that many of the deals completed include add-ons which may or may not be triggered over the coming years.
However, going by what Liverpool are certain to both pay and bank for the business that’s been done it’s £75.9million out with £51.6million coming in.
That figure of £75.9million could rise to £86.4million depending on whether the progress of Roberto Firmino and Joe Gomez triggers various clauses.
Firmino cost Liverpool an initial £21million from Hoffenheim but that fee could rise to £29million. Similarly, the £3.5million the Reds paid Charlton Athletic for Gomez could climb to £6million.

The maths are complicated by the fact that a tribunal has yet to meet to decide what fee Liverpool must pay Burnley for Danny Ings. But taking into account the Reds’ previous offer, £6million will be the minimum they will have to cough up for the striker.
Adam Bogdan and James Milner arrived on free transfers, while right-back Nathaniel Clyne cost the Reds £12million from Southampton.
The £32.5million for Christian Benteke is being paid to Aston Villa in instalments but that amount isn’t performance or appearance related.
Liverpool have also written cheques for a number of Academy rookies - taking midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza from Internacional for £500,000 and paying Nigerian outfit Imperial Academy £400,000 for teenage striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who was instantly loaned out to FSV Frankfurt due to work permit issues.
In terms of outgoings, Liverpool got £4.4million from Sevilla for Iago Aspas and £3million from West Brom for Rickie Lambert.
Sunderland paid £8million, potentially rising to £10million, for striker Fabio Borini and the Black Cats also handed over £2million for Sebastian Coates and that could rise to £4million.

Raheem Sterling arrives at The Eithad stadium.

The biggest transfer of the summer was the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City. It was a £49million deal with add-ons but the initial fee was £44million.
Liverpool had to hand over £9.8million of that to Queens Park Rangers as a result of their 20% sell-on clause - meaning they pocketed £34.2million from selling Sterling.
That overall figure of £54.6million coming into the club over the course of the window will increase to £60.6million if the add-ons in the various deals are triggered.
The £51.6million from sales has been boosted by a further £3million from loan fees for the likes of Tiago Ilori, Lazar Markovic and Andre Wisdom. That trio are among the 17 players Liverpool have sent out on loan over the course of the summer.

fsg are cunts

No more than what we spent in 2005..

We are arguably bringing in more revenue.. even with CL footy//

Like the sheik said, money is being held back for the stadium, when thats paid off, we should in a good position.. For the time being we will have to sell to buy without CL footy...

I couldn't care what we spent, makes me laugh when people get pissy about it, we had a good window, bought well, that's all that matters.

Just thinking.. Apart from Sturridge and Coutinho, which one of our signings post Brendan have increased in value?

Just what this board needs to break up the cyclical rumination. A refreshing discussion of net spend.

If we keep spending a modest amount while building the stadium, that's a result. It's sensible.

What's not sensible is what we do with the funds.

Impossible to do. We have no visibility of signing-on fees, agent fees, Ings cost, whether to take account of the addons etc etc.
