Eight of the Premier League's current top 10 have reportedly written to CAS to prevent City's Champions League ban being stayed should the club ask for it while appeal is ongoing..

Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are among eight clubs who have reportedly written to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to stop Manchester City playing in next season's Champions League.

"Plotting" seems a rather pejorative word to use, given they're fucking cheats and deserve every possible censure and punishment.

But I can't even get excited about this with the "void" word hanging over OUR heads

I actually think we would have been better to stay out of all this, and mind our own business.  Can understand why United, and the likes of Arsenal would want this, but we should not be bothered by this - unless ... unless we get awarded the PL title for last season, and the season where SG slipped.  - That will do for me.

Makes sense if they have broken the rules.

I think this puts City on a very sticky wicket. There's clearly discontent among the EPL clubs and there's a good chance more than 8 would support action against them (presumably it's only 8 of the top 10, being those challenging for European qualification).
Even if they win at CAS, they could still be in trouble with the EPL. I'm not convinced they will win at CAS (because CAS tends to stick up for "the little man") and if they do it might only be on a technicality over the evidence being lifted from a hack of their email (i.e. inadmissible evidence).
By contrast, the EPL's rules specifically state that normal rules of inadmissible evidence won't apply in disciplinary proceedings. So EPL could use the footyleaks emails as evidence unless City can prove they are fake / unreliable.
If 15 or more clubs support action being taken, the EPL will have to do something. Those clubs could, in theory, vote to eject City from the league and that threat might be the leverage they need to get them taken down a peg or two.

W.75. In the exercise of their powers under this Section of these Rules, a Commission or an Appeal Board shall not be bound by judicial rules governing the admissibility of evidence. Instead, facts relating to a breach of these Rules may be established by any reliable means.

Based on what? Conversations between themselves over a can of boddingtons?

There hasn’t been any murmurings from any sources.

We don't gain anything from booting City out of the champions league. I reckon we are just going along to appease the other eight clubs so they don't null and void the season

The premier league could step in and give them a 2yr effective ban anyway if they fancied, by penalising them league places or deducting points at the end of each season, just enough so they don't qualify. If they've been cheating the FFP for the champions league, then surely they've been doing it to the premier league at the same time, so they should be getting an equally severe punishment from them. A fine is no good again, it's got to points and transfer bans etc.

Just refuse them to entry of any football competition for 999 years. I’ll be happy with that.

Hmm hopefully we'll see a 'Rangers-like' penalty then. Relegation to the 2nd Division with any luck.

Or a points deduction as per Saracens in Rugby Union. 56 points or something like that.

The relegation thing is a good point. If City were to be ejected from the League, the team in 18th would be spared relegation under the EPL rules. So we have 8 out of 10 teams at the top wanting to see them punished and teams towards the bottom looking at the possibility of avoiding relegation if City were to go down in their place. Interesting times.

Does anyone have the address for CAS? I'd quite like to write to them myself.

although they should be punished I tend to agree with you there will either be a monetary punishment which under appeal will be reduced, or a suspended punishment both of which will amount to nothing in really terms becuase it will still allow City to continue their business as normal

The fact that 8 top EPL clubs made a joint appeal to CAS makes me think something is brewing and City won’t be let off the hook. If Juve can be dropped down 2 divisions for cheating in Italy, why should the fucking City be spared?
