I'm not sure we've done ourselves any favours in his treatment. We've certainly knocked millions off his value even despite whatever he's done behind closed doors. He was still worth £10-12M at that point. We'll struggle to get over £6M with him being completely sidelined.
You could argue Klopp has used to him make a stand. Follow my beliefs or you're out the door, etc. If that's the case, and it's worked, then it's hard to be arsed. If not then it's a little bit frustrating, because we're not exactly minted. What's more frustrating is, across two regimes, we failed to change his levels of proffesionalism. The club would have been aware of his past issues from scouting reports but clearly backed ourselves to change them. The same is true of Ballotelli. The learning from both the Sakho and Ballotelli transfers is we're incapable of changing a players mentality. For future signings we need to act on this. We need to believe a Leopard will not change his spots because it will save it's both in time and money. I just hope that lesson has now been learned.
