Superbowl thread.

I cant describe how im feeling.
Think Istanbul (well maybe not quite). I was sure Ben was going to do something this game, and his scrambling was the best ive ever seen, he just couldnt be stopped.
My mvp Santonio. He has stepped up this season, in particular in the playoffs.
So very very happy.
Now wheres those 5 times winning Cowboys? :p

Actually i should give Ben a bit more credit.
Ive given him loads of shit in the past, because he isnt a huge numbers qb, but he manages our team and maybe doesnt get all the credit he deserves.
Hes in his 5th year averaging over 10 wins a season (never before done) and hes won 2 superbowls top man.
Yay, santonio mvp.
Winner.

Fantastic game. Was cheering for the Cards just because they were the underdogs but a well-deserved win by the Steelers and a lot closer than most people had predicted.

You've got to feel for him.

I thought it would be a really good game if the Steelers didn't get a quick start. Turned out they did and it was still a cracker. I feel for the Cardinals - would have loved to see Warner and Fitzgerald as winners, but the Steelers deserved it over the course of the season. They had a really tough schedule and came through week after week. They also held their nerve today to pull it out the bag when they must have been shell-shocked by that Fitzgerald touchdown.

Steeler fans are similar to Manc fans ... however, they do deserve to revel in their deserved glory though you have to feel for the Cards who would have been as deserving were it not for that quite brilliant catch.

Steelers definitely showed a lot of fortitude to pull it out of the bag like that, that's for sure. Amazing catch, too.

Other than they suport the most successful team ever...

So what does that make Cowboys fans similar too?

Liverpool fans - their team used to be the best, and they're patiently awaiting their chance to return to the pedastal.

Prevent defense is retarded. It's something that will be rethought in the future. There are a disproportionate amount of drives like this, despite their billing as phenomenal comebacks, because of this stupid defense.

A prevent defense when you're up by 14 points is fine, but when you need to prevent a TD?

Credit to Big Ben for avoiding some sacks, but the Cardinals made it 'easier' with that d.

We certainly almost handed it to them with shite defending in the last quarter.
I would say though that Warner was fucking impeccable.
Btw lol@wiz and poor the cowboys fans.
Youre so much more reasonable and rational as a football fan Avvie.
Mancs indeed?!!

I think that if you look at the season on a whole (including last night), then the Steelers definitely deserved it more but I think that the Cardinals could have nicked that had they stepped up a bit more in the first half.

Thanks Fallon.
We had statistically the toughest schedule in history.

my point precisely - but if you go to their forums, you'll see why they're more like Mancs or NYY fans ...

I hope Warner comes back for another year - he's one of the real good stories the NFL has produced over the past decade.

Super Bowl porn hits US viewers

US sports fans in Arizona got a surprise when their TV coverage of American football's Super Bowl was interrupted by a pornographic film.

Tucson-based KVOA-TV said it was "dismayed and disappointed" after some cable viewers had their match coverage disrupted towards the end of the game.

The company said the material was only seen by viewers of one cable network.

"KVOA will investigate what happened and make sure our viewers get answers," company president Gary Nielsen said.

"When the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material," he added.

Comcast, the cable company whose viewers saw the material, said it was investigating.

Local media outlets reported that they received calls from furious viewers.

The clip showed a woman unzipping a man's trousers, followed by a graphic act between the two.

"I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up," viewer Cora King told the Arizona Daily Star.

"Then he did his little dance with everything hanging out."

The interruption happened just after the last touchdown by the Arizona Cardinals, who lost the match to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

NEW YORK (AP)—The Arizona-Pittsburgh matchup wasn’t considered an ideal one for television, but its finish riveted an estimated audience of 95.4 million people, second only to last year’s game as the most-watched Super Bowl ever.

Viewership peaked in the fourth quarter, when Arizona took the lead on Larry Fitzgerald’s 64-yard catch and sprint to the end zone only to have it snatched back when Santonio Holmes’ end zone leap gave Pittsburgh the 27-23 win. More than 100 million Americans were watching between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. EST, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The game was the third most-watched program in American television history, after the 106 million people who watched the “M-A-S-H†series finale in 1983 and the 97.4 million who watched the N.Y. Giants end the New England Patriots’ bid for an undefeated season in the 2008 Super Bowl.

“The Super Bowl, once again, proved its ability to capture America,†said Dick Ebersol, NBC Universal Sports chairman.

Wow. I wonder what the worldwide audience was.
Its such a shame that the European league never gets off the ground properly, it would be great to have some pan-atlantic games.

Im gonna really miss the football for 6 months now.

I won't ;)

Hmmmm! Ive only made you watch it a couple of times when weve been the 6pm kick off.

I would have loved to have stayed up and watched it. More so that there was a few seconds of porn interrupting the 3rd quarter. Well worth the lack of sleep I would imagine. Plus it looked an ace game, drama right until the end. Maybe next year....
