Man City seem to be playing quite a long game what with fan friendly prices, massive investment in youth facilities and surrounding areas.

Villarreal President Fernando Roig has unveiled the club’s plans for low-cost season tickets, in an attempt to fill El Madrigal next season.

The Yellow Submarine are back in the Primera Division after a season away and they have plans to ensure that they have the full support of their fans.

The club have cut prices and guaranteed that 5,400 season tickets will be priced below €140 and a further 14,000 season tickets will not exceed €250.

Tickets will cover all 19 home games in La Liga as well as all Copa del Rey games scheduled at El Madrigal.

Unemployed season ticket holders are able to renew for 2013-14 at no cost, continuing a scheme developed four years ago, whilst season ticket holders who were out of work a year ago only have to pay 33 per cent of ticket’s value, and those who were unemployed two years ago only pay 66 per cent of the price.

“I want a full Madrigal as we have had in the final weeks of this season,” Roig insisted in presenting his plan today.

“Therefore we have reduced prices by 30 per cent. We have done everything on our part to bring the fans on to our side. The club will be what they want.

“If we reach 20,000 season ticket holders, which I believe we will do, it will be a clear demonstration that people are behind the team and that their efforts will be worth it.”

Elsewhere, Espanyol have offered an incentive for fans to renew their season tickets this summer, with the promise of a full refund should they lose their job during the 2013-14 campaign.

Nice gesture, not only in terms of luring fans to the stadium but making it affordable to those affected by their unemployment.
