Thiago - The real deal

He’ll be dead again soon you mean...

Yeah, we were able to make this work in midfield against Villa U18s/U23s, but against Utd it will be more difficult for Hendo and Gini to pull off.

Yep - he's definitely never played a big game in his life. He was just a passenger for those 9 league titles and 2 CLs (so far)
Dont care , its the German league and he played for the team that always has the best players. I thought he was pretty shit againat us a couple of seasons ago when we had midfield of Gini, Hendo, Milner and beat them at home 3-1.

Hamann, who also used to play for Bayern in midfield, has suggested Thiago is not best suited to the style of play that has proven successful for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp.
"He slows things down and doesn't really play the way Liverpool play," he said. "Liverpool in the past two years had hard-working midfielders. They were skilful, yes, but not as skilful as Thiago.
"They gave the ball to Salah and Mane early, and when you get the ball early to the wing and these guys can run at players, they are very hard, impossible to stop.
"Everyone was raving about Thiago when he came to Liverpool but he's hardly played. He came on against Chelsea where they had the most passes in the second half but Chelsea were down to 10 men.
"Then he came on against Newcastle for the last 25 minutes and Newcastle were dead on their feet.
"I can tell you he is a good player, a skilful player, yes. But there was never a time at Munich where people said he should be the first name on the teamsheet."

Hamman seems a bit touchy about anything German relating to our team. He's even been reserved about Klopp. I'm sure Thiago can speed up his play. If you can see things early you can pass early. Molby used to play that way (take his pass to set up Rush in the cup final) so I think Didi needs to re-educate himself about 'The Liverpool Way'.

I don’t understand Hamanns view at all. Barnes has said the same. Thiago looks to play it quick and forward and to feet. That’s perfect for us.

Hamann also said Bayern should sell Lewandoski a couple of years ago. He's clueless.

Thiago has been playing against a two defensive walls since he arrived, and along with Shaqiri has looked like the only play of making an incisive pass. Not for the first time, Didi is chatting utter shite.

Why is the kaiser so bitter about LFC these days. Is it just that he has been deposed as the clubs greatest ever German?

He's also had two great cutting passes ruled out for different reasons - the Mane pass against Everton incorrectly for offside and the Mane through ball against Utd when the whistle blew.

Some commentators think we makes us look slow because they're comparing him in this team where we play against a low block to teams that were playing open opponents more often on the break with space and movement.

Quite, if the whistle was delayed by 10 seconds, Mane scores from a brilliant Thiago assist, we win and Didi and co shut the fuck up on their dumb ass agenda

He's a joy. The best is yet to come, because the attacking movement from Salah, Mane and Firmino has been abysmal and Klopp has been playing him at holding, which he can do, but his real value to this team will be further forward. The fouls need to come down, but it's no real concern. That snappy eagerness to win the ball is so important to our game that it comes with the territory. He's smart enough to change after receiving a yellow card, and taking out Kane yesterday was pretty important.

Why is fouls even a concern? New Midfielder with massive reputation joining reigning league champions in a league known for its athletic, combative nature?

He's been solid at worst so far and is absolutely going to get better as it goes. Our other midfield acquisitions of the past 5 years, Fabinho aside maybe cant hold a candle to him, get on Ox, Sick note Keita etc cases first.

The concern is his fouls tend to be because hes out of position and needs to drag down his opponent or he completely mistimes a tackle. But hes boss, he will either get up to speed and foul less or stop lunging in when he picks up a few bookings.
