Personally think it was mostly on the fans. First the ironic cheer when his name was announced and then the boos.

I can somehow understand Xhaka's reaction.

I know nothing about Xhaka to determine if he's captain material or not, but I think the players voted for him and he did also get the armband for his national team, to the dismay of Big Shaq.
Obviously his little tantrum kinda showed his true colours.

I haven't watched the incident but if you buy the whole "he was sulkily walking off and that's why he got booed" then the fans are in the right. If not, I see it both ways.

Either way, this puts the club in a difficult position now as the fans aren't going to forgive him (maybe if he was a decent player).

They cheered when his number went up on the board at first.

For me, they're both at fault. The Arsenal fans were twats for doing that, and he made it a million times worse by acting the cunt.

He's a dreadful player, though, and Arsenal fans are dreadful, too. Suit each other.

We have been guilty of getting on a specific player's back, Lucas, and now Hendo, can make a mistake and then the groaning starts from the fans with every sideways or misplaced pass. It isn't ever productive. But this is next level. Booing one of your own coming off the pitch is just shit. Of course, it isn't the first occasion Arsenal fans have done this, reducing Eboue to tears after he'd been having a bad game.

A notoriously unpleasant, ungrateful, solipsistic taunter of crowds. Sympathising with Xhaka. Figures. Another great thread, right up there with 'how many ex-players can you name in this crap old painting'.

    Article:
Emery said: "Yes [he should apologise]. We make mistakes, we need to apologise and we suggested for him to do that. "Really, he knows he was wrong and he feels inside very deep."

Hahahaha he can't even apologise now, lest he get accused of only doing it because he was told to. The only thing for it is to claim he heard racist/homophobic abuse as he was walking off, and that is why he reacted badly.

Hahaha if he had any sense he should hire you to draft the apology instead of a lawyer.

I don't think a single post here is sympathising with Xhaka.

Does it have to be fans or player? I’d go for manager.

Sure maybe the players voted for Xhaka but he’s a bit shit, seems to me like a bit of a nob and doesn’t have the right temperament. Why would any manager sign off on that?

On a related note sky showed a comparison of Emerys first 47 games and Wengers last 47, Wengers record is slightly better. I think he’s a couple of bad results away from fans turning on him.

All true, but Arsenal’s problem is he’s probably the closest thing to a captain material they’ve got. Things are so dire it looks they are going to hand the armband to Ozil of all people tomorrow.

Both are wrong, fans for booing him in public during an intense game, and him for losing control like that.  I dont think there has ever been an incident where we have done that to one of our players right?

I’d have to see the team first to see if that makes sense but Ozil is another horrendous choice. The keeper seems like a decent if a bit bland choice?

Arsenal fanbase are kind of famous for slagging off their own players or managers, aren't they? I mean that's the whole premise of Arsenal Fan TV: millions of rival fans tuning in to watch them hilariously tear apart one of their own. There a reason this concept works for (or at the expense of) Arsenal and not any other club.

What did Xhaka do in this match specifically to get booed like that??

I had the impression Arsenal were winning until the end

He didn't do anything. They just hate him. I'd hate him too if he played for us, in fairness.

It’s not black and white and extends to the manager.
