You tend to look with rose tinted spectacles at past players. He performs every week, is a phenomenal shot stopper and has no weakness.

Likewise. Another CL and title would arguably cement it but what an incredibly signing he’s been.
I really hope he stays as long as possible can while performing at the level he’s at.

Reina was exceptional too mind, bar the last 18 months which I think unfairly tarnishes his reputation for many fans.
He’s come a long way from that mistake at Leicester in his first few games.

Deffo, Allison is a better keeper, but still in terms of clean sheets, Pepe Reina did well.
Tricky to compare Allison with Clemence who could pick up pass backs in those days.
My old man says Clemence was world class, Grobbelaar was inspirational but Allison is better than both and that's good enough for me.
In my time we had goalies who could make amazing saves but were inconsistent eg David James. Others had long careers but not good enough at a top club eg Brad Freidel, Scott Carson and Simon Mignolet.
Jerzy Dudek has a special place in my heart for Istanbul and Pepe Reina was a revelation for a couple of years but developed weaknesses and dropped his standards.
Then there were the rest, ranging from the average Sander Westerveld and Brad Jones to varying degrees of losers - stand up Bogdan, Adrian and Karius.
We have been blessed with Allison and Kelleher as his deputy. Fingers crossed with Mamardashvila.

Adrian gets more stick than he deserves IMO. We all shudder at the memory of that game against Atletico in particular but there were other games in which he did well, especially considering he was only intended to be third choice and ended up having to play a lot more often than expected.

Alisson was a massive stabilising effort after mediocre keepers. He's great. I don't know if he's our best ever, keepers are different from back in the day. But he's been top notch.
