It's the opposite...Red card suspensions received in the Charity Shield (Community Shield) are served in the next competitive match for the player’s club, not in the Charity Shield itself. This means if a player is sent off in the Charity Shield, they will miss the following official competition game, such as a league or cup match. This rule has been in effect since August 2009
