A thought on AC

Just a passing thought watching the highlights and thinking of Carroll's goals over past few seasons. He strikes a ball like a rocket and I seem to recall most of his goals coming on the ground. So why the fuck are we hoofing them at him expecting him to bang them in off his head? Is it his height? Is it the crouch syndrome? What is it? Balls need to be passed to him and let him turn and score, I think that's what he could do best!

Well we spent lots of time hoofing at Heskey who could not head the ball and at Crouch who were so sknny that the only way he could make way was to push the defenders around.... I guess it is just a (bad) habit.

We've tried feeding him the ball at his feet and this is usually the outcome.

I'm still hoping he'll come good though. Hell Downing finally got a goal.

A goal can do wonders for a player low on confidence. I was delighted to see Carroll and Downing bag one last night. Downing seems to be written off by many fans but he looked really good in the first few games and almost scored a belter in the opening match. Here's hoping he pushes on from here.

any confidence from the goal was quickly brushed away with the sitter missed a few minutes later.

Hopefully he gets his head round the fact that sometimes he can miss, as long as he doesn't let his head drop

Yup, the goal followed the by miss almost immediately afterwards sums him up for me.

Still think he can come good if he gets a bit of playing time.

Doubt it.

the run carroll will have in the side will make or break him. I'm backing him to take his chance especially with an assist machine like gerrard.

also there's no 'thoughts' thread so I may as well say it here, bellamy's set peices are way better than adams.

AC scored a cracking goal quickly followed by an abject miss than my long departed Gran could have scored. Sums him up really. Anyway we need his confidence high with LS out for another 7 games. Was very pleased to see Downing score .. he's another one that's been unlucky, who was that great run and thunderous shot off the bar against ? That deserved a goal.

What bollocks. Adam has put in some sensational corners / Fks - not his fault we couldn't score in a brothel for many games this season. Bellers is a good dead-ball taker too of course.

Ohhhh George....

Although some of the abuse downing has been getting recently is ridiculous. Sure we can criticise players, but we're also meant to support them. It seems some want him to fail.

recently adams corners haven't been clearing the first man.

I'm not so sure tbh. He scored against Everton and West Brom(weeks apart)but never went on a scoring run after that. Back to square one basically.
Although in fairness, Kenny didn't persist with him in the starting line up after these games.

I don't think a goal here or there will lift his confidence greatly. He just needs a run of games, like say 10 games where he scores 5 or 6 and his overall play is encouraging.

With Suarez's ban, he'll get plenty of game time.

Polo shirts are boss when you're next to Andy Carroll.

He was in there with Downing and Glen, living it large!
