I may be way off the mark but more and more I get the feeling Dalglish is determined to keep Carroll just because he has been pissed off at everyone questioning the transfer since day 1 . He seem's stubbornly intent on keeping him and saying everything is fine yet he hardly plays him . At the very least he could admit that Carroll has to do a bit more , maybe a kick up the arse will help . It's just so frustrating how insistant he is that everything is fine with carroll when obviously it is now . Feels like they not even doing anything to improve things .
I take him at his word, that he sees Carroll as a signing for the next five years, rather than one year.

Therefore his value to the team currently is negligible. I think the owners needed to spend big & he bought a player for the future at an inflated price.
I get what you are saying but surely you can't spend 35m on a player and be happy to wait a few years for him to start producing . That's just insane . And even taking the price out of the equation surely you'd expect more now . There aren't even signs he might develop into a top player .

***EDIT****

Actually sorry chap i don't get what you're saying , it's just madness to buy a player and excuse his bad performances and not playing him on the fact 'he was bought for the future" . How long can that excue be used for ? 3, 4 yrs into a 5 yr deal ? He's not a 16yr old kid...he's a 1st team footballer .

I think the owners wanted to spend big to prove a point to us, that's obvious.

Kenny wanted Carroll, but knew what type of footy we were playing, so went for him & made it clear he wasn't a signing for now.

I think in his mind he wants us to line up playing pass & move but if it doesn't work to play balls to a big man who can bury it.

Personally I don't think the two things are compatible, but I believe that's what kenny is aiming at.

To top it off Carroll has issues. I don't believe the club nor kenny are dealing with them properly, which compounds the issue further.

that is fair enough for the second half of last season especially considering how late in the window we bought him . But you can't buy a player for that much and expect nothing for a few yrs . Plus he looked to have bought players to help get the best out of carroll (downing , adam deliveries etc) but very quickly decided it wasn't working so reverted to last seasons style and hardly plays carroll now .

And I fear you may be right that the club aren't handling carroll correctly both on and off the field which is very worrying indeed . What are they up to ?

FFF - not even you believe what you're typing.
Do you still believe he's a good player but just not a good fit for us Ryan ?

I definately believe AC is a good player but is being played in the wrong manner as is being given the wrong type of service but I do place some of the blame on the player for not being able to adapt his play like kuyt had when moved to a wide postion.

If he could just adapt his play enough to give the impression that he is actually a professional footballer would be a good start for me

not a lot he can do;
when he is given fleeting minutes here and there with no chance to buld any momentum

when there are no crosses being played into him, and when there are are no players running beyond him when he flicks the ball on

where there no players around him if he wins a knock down in the box and not players supporting him

when he is isolated up front. all the blame shouldn't be placed at the door of carroll.

there is no question in my mind we could be utilising carroll better. if we aren't going to play to his strengths are at the very least meet him half way then sell him on

Wahey...i read on news websites that Villa want to exchange Carroll for Bent...

Any takers?

I'd take Marcus Bent in a swop for the useless fucker

That seems pretty astute to me as a summing up, although we have, in the past, accommodated a big man into the pass and move style of play. Shanks always looked to do it, and bought one or two donkeys in his search to replace the few who were smart enough to fit in. I think the problem is more with Carroll than the staff. The look on Didi Hamman's face yesterday when he was discussing Carroll spoke volumes, I felt - Didi was hardly a model pro when it came to 'refuelling,' but he knew how to prepare and play, and there was a real professional's anger in his eyes when he talked about Carroll's need to pay back the club.

The Sunday Express has the story. Not a lot of substance to it.

The service he gets, or doesn't get, is obviously very important, but what frustrates me most is his attitude. The likes of Aldo, Duncan Ferguson, Andy Gray and Alan Shearer could have been starved of any service but they'd still be causing problems in the area and generally being a chronic physical threat. Andy just seems to patrol a line about five yards outside the area until a cross looks like coming in. And even then he doesn't attack it. Over Christmas, when it was deathly quiet at Anfield, someone in the Main Stand shouted out 'Oi Andy, get onside!' and he looked up and got onside. I don't know which aspect of that depressed me more. But it's still the case that already in his pre-LFC career he's looked more intimidating and aggressive than Heskey has seemed in more than 15 years, so I still long to see him come true. I just don't know how you sort out someone like him psychologically.

Similarly yesterday myself & a few others were shouting at him to get into the centre from a corner, & then again to stay upfront, he looked up & noticed, then kenny shouted & used hand signals to tell him to stay upfront.

I felt similarly disappointed that he hadn't worked it out for himself on both counts.

See when Carroll signaled to the bench, he needed new boots(due to him slipping over about 10 times shortly after he came on)? Kenny's reaction was one of despair.

What a disastrous signing.

Yeah, he threw his hands in the air, couldn't see his face but could see he was pissed off.

I imagine the players are told to check their studs are right in the warm up.

You'd have thought so. Just goes from bad to worse.

Really, really hope Carroll can turn it around. Just can't see it though. He looks so lightweight and lacking any upper body strength...dunno what the fuck's happened him.
Shadow of the player he was at Newcastle.

I think he looks like he's lost weight.

I suspect we're increasing his fitness levels (he pants after about half an hour play) by hammering him on cardio at the expense of weight training. Once his fitness is up I imagine they'll start bulking him out & working on strength a lot more. Trying to do them both at the same time isn't ideal for obvious reasons.

The thing is he apperantly didnt do to much bulking up at Newcastle, and looked much more mobile and had a helluva jump on him in those days.
When we signed him the first thing we did was to send him to the gym, and he has looked heavy and slow ever since.

Looks fitter now, so maybe we have finally found the right programme.

If we are indeed hammering him in training he will look heavy & slower because of it, long term he'd be sharper & fitter than ever before.

That's if he's not getting pissed constantly like.

That's what Didi was saying after the game on LFCTV. He's normally such a placid bloke but you could see he wanted to throttle Carroll over that.

So he is not an intelligent footballer.
He's neither intelligent nor is he a footballer, would he a more accurate phrase.

the summer will prove how much liverpool are interested in the carroll 'project'.
I'm starting to think we will get rid and reinvest in a player who actually plays most games.

Andy is moody, contrary, has no respect for other sentient beings, appears to be unintelligent, has no interest in the world outside his local area, is very fat and plain lazy.

No it doesn't describe our own Mr. Carroll but Andy from Little Britain. There's a lot of similarities though, is there any truth in the rumours that he gets pushed around Melwood in his own wheelchair?
