@TonyBarretTimes: Daniel Agger looks set to return to Denmark with Brondby closing in on a deal to sign the Liverpool defender.

@ViktorFagerLFC: #LFC are in talks with Bröndby over a £3m permanent deal for Agger. (James Pearce)

The Reds are also close to a settlement with Agger over the final two years of his £120,000 per week contract.
From the Echo.

this has to be about getting rid of his wages . most of that 3m will probably go to his payoff . what a crap deal . crazy to think we turned down bids of 20m from city and 15m from barca in the last 2 yrs .

i guess people will take this out on him but he's been here 8 & 1/2 seasons , it's obvious he loves the club and at least he's not joining a rival . just a pity brondby can't pay more .

What? No massive inevitable deal to his spiritual home in Spain? Where he can strutt his stuff playing 50 yard, laser-like passes, inbetween scoring long distance screamers and effortlessly being the best defender on the planet?

Brondby. Read it again. BRONDBY.

what's your point ? that he was always crap and now it's being proven ?

3m? Fucking hell. He's worth more than 3m.

Ah well, he's been a damn good servant to the club, & whilst I believe he was overrated in the way any CB who can move the ball well gets overrated in England, I think he's given his all whilst he was here, which is all you can ask of any player.

Good luck Danny. YNWA

1. 120k a fucking week? How stupid are we as a club allowing average players like him and johnson get up to that sort of silly money.
2. Brondby?! He's 29 and the best he can do is Brondby?! Dear me

Wow. Brondby. How the mighty have fallen. That's if Citeh and Barca ever did come in with such bids.

I assume he could move to a bigger team than Brondby if he wanted to but he wants to go somewhere he actually wants to be. Shame it is not us and a shame it is not Barca but fair play to him for going where his heart is.

Shite for us cash wise mind.

Agger said himself there was an opportunity to go to Barca which he turned down a few years back, didn't he? Was that proven to be untrue?

This is very odd, going back to Brondby. Maybe he's had enough of football and just wants to go home. Maybe it's just a way to get us to pay up and he'll move somewhere else in Jan. I wonder if anyone came in for him this summer.

That he was overhyped? That the supposed inevitable move to Barca hasn't even come close to fruition?

Apart from that, I'm not sure really, maybe I'm just taking the piss.

We WERE offered deals for him by Barca and City.
I think it's a ridiculous argument to be making when quite obviously his market value has dropped due to both his age and the fact that it's plain to see by everyone that at 29 he'll never get over his injury troubles. At 27, big clubs were willing to take the risk.

Not his biggest fan but I'm fairly insulted for the man if it's true.
He's way better than this.
His heart was always in the right place I think.

Sorry lad but you're basically trolling here.
You'd be like a boiled shite if Modo done this to a player you rated.
It's bad form in my book.
Say what you want about him as a player but maybe it's just me but I think he deserves a bit more respect.
He's been a very good player for us over the years considering the fee we paid.
I wish him well.

I didn't realise he was on 120k a week, that's top player cash, and he was but now he isn't. Had his salary been somewhat lower then I'd rather have kept him as #4 than let him go on the cheap. However I think Danny probably had some say in that too as he's never been happy to be the backup CB.

I'll wish him well, he's been a fantastic servant to LFC for 8.5 years and I hope he is happy wherever he goes. Do think Italy would have been perfect for him though and he's wasting himself a little, but we are not all driven by the same factors and he has always had a very close relationship with Brondby.

Get ready for the Red Top revelations of how he was driven out of the club he loves by the evil Brendan.

Why be insulted for the man? He said himself he wouldnt move anywhere else than Brondby according to the Echo.

I was taking the piss out of his fans who, even recently, have banged on that "he'll go to Barca and be boss". And though I think all this holier-than-thou stuff about him is well over the top, given he couldn't stop fucking moaning whenever the opportunity arose.

The myth can carry on anyway, he's bowed out the big time early, so like when he was permanently on the sidelines, the idea of him can become even greater than the actuality.
