Looks like he might be back from this photo. Curious though, what pair of boots he's wearing?

After seeing that picture, I'm just awaiting related stories to both of them suffering injury setbacks in training.

That is the most ironic photo ever.

Mr Glass and Humpty Dumpty in a 50/50 and Lucas "Muscles" Leiva watching on.

It'll be great to have Agger back in the team. Fingers crossed.

I second that emotion.

I'm just off to get 'GOOD LUCK AGGER - HOPE TO SEE YOU BACK SOON' tattooed on my arm. Back at about 2-ish.

is that a recent picture as there were reports that agger is still weeks away from fitness.

The photo is from the official LFC Facebook page. it's from today's training I assume.

Agreed subject to above amendment. He has yet to prove to me that he'll represent an improvement on what we already have in the side.

Really? Him and one other for me.

Yes, really.  Agger's a more stylish mover with the ball than either of the current CBs, but IMHO too many on here still confuse style with substance where he's concerned.  He still has to learn how to use the ball consistently accurately, he's not as good a defensive all-rounder as Carra and he's less likely than Skrtel to win a flat-out trial of strength with the likes of Dogbreath. I'm not actually saying he's a worse player than the others, but I am saying each has their own strengths and weaknesses and I'm far from convinced Agger's all-round set of skills puts him ahead of the others.

Yh he's aces moving with the ball forwardly, but not quite skrtel strength when it comes to going head on in ala carvalho, carra, skrtel. He's a different style CB and a beneficial one if he's playing alongside Carra. I've always believed that there ought to be one gut and thrust defender, and the other, pacier, and one that can play the ball out of defence/attack corners, and Agger/Carra fit that bill perfectly.

Yeah, I agree. I like Skrtel - he's a good, tough, fast defender. But a) I think Agger is a bit more intelligent and classy on the ball, and b) he's a better partner for Carra. Also, at some point we're going to have to let Carra have a rest so his performances don't slip - and I'd rather see an Agger-Skrtel partnership than Skrtel-Zorba.

positionally I think skrtel is all over the place. people go on about skrtel's pace, if you read the game properly you don't need pace to continually dig you out of holes.

Pretty much like everyone else on here, Agger everytime as long as he's fit. Seem to concede a lot more goals with set pieces when Skrtle is playing too.

...which just goes to show how unreliable mere "impression" can be, because the figures don't bear that out. Someone posted the stats from last season on here at the time and there was practically no difference in the number of goals conceded overall when one or other was in the side. In fact our record with Skrtel was marginally better.

I like Agger but for some reason his mistakes lead to less scathing posts than Skrtel's do, not sure why; he made a good few last year. Skrtel less in my opinion although, as I intimated, his are jumped on more.

They're both great and very promising for our future, but lets be honest, Skrtel takes a bit more flack in comparison because he's less 'glamorous' on the ball, despite both of their defensive qualities being excellent.

Carra's had the same shit for years, despite being one of THE best defenders in Europe for near enough a decade.

Fucking Arsenal syndrome or what? A defender has to be a rampaging, clinical passer, and a goal machine too.

Really, seem to remember last year after Skrtle came back from injury we conceded a number of goals set pieces in the 1st few games. Does anyone have those stats, would be an interesting read especially if it includes Sami.

True. I happen to think Skrtel is the better defender, Agger is a good player for sure, probably better player all round. But, if we were in a big one tomorrow, I'd play Skrtel.
