Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has been announced as the new head coach of Saudi Arabian side Al Qadisiyah FC.
Fowler, who enjoyed a standout playing career at the likes of Leeds United, Manchester City as well as two spells at Liverpool, was last involved in management with Indian Super League club East Bengal.
Al Qadisiyah FC play in the Saudi First Division League, the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia.
He is set to be joined by Tony Grant, who was assistant to Duncan Ferguson at Forest Green Rovers.
Fowler has also had managerial spells at Thai club Muangthong United, where he also played, and Brisbane Roar in Australia.
Back in August, then Oxford United manager Karl Robinson confirmed that Fowler was coaching with the League One side “on a casual basis”.
Fowler is the latest arrival into Saudi Arabian football this summer following a high-profile investment drive in the game in the country.
In early June, the Saudi Arabia ministry of sport announced the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will take control of four teams in the Saudi Pro League: Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal and Al Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January, Karim Benzema agreed to join Al Ittihad earlier this month and a bid for Lionel Messi was made before he chose to join Inter Miami as the country looks to bring in a host of high-profile players.
