Yeah, I'd like them both.Him and Caicedo are a title winning midfield combination.
It's just that Brighton have an average defence and a super average forward line (save Mitoma).
Haha I think Hyena has more than just one tongue in his cheek. Wonderful clips of what he could bring to our midfield.
I'm gonna throw 2 more names into the hat (probably won't mean anything as we've been linked with neither)
Youssuf Fofana at Monaco and Florentino Luis at Benfica.
Fofana looks to be a well rounded midfielder.

Luis a exceptional DM in the making.

Have you seen Luis's buyout clause, £105m I think?I'm gonna throw 2 more names into the hat (probably won't mean anything as we've been linked with neither)

Youssuf Fofana, looks really promising but Monaco like Benfica always ask for top dollar.

Hey! I didn't start the thread.I'm sure there'll be a thread called "Midfielders other than Mac Allister" soon
I have nothing against MacAllister - he is exactly the kind of player who brings multiple positive intangibles to their team that can be the difference between winning and losing a trophy. He is a winner, no doubt, and he’s a good footballer.
But is he £70M good? He doesn’t have the speed and athleticism of a top-class midfielder and while he does really well to compensate in other aspects, you don’t pay this kind of money for intangibles - you buy a midfielder that will dominate in every aspect of the game. I can’t help but feel that a team that will pay big money for MacAllister this summer are basically suckers - they could have bought him for peanuts just 12 months ago but failed to see the potential. We should be looking for the next MacAllister, not overpaying for the current one.
If he performs at his current level for 5 years here he’s worth every penny. So it’s a gamble sure but one that could pay off. He’s attitude seems top notch which is something sorely lacking at the moment across our team.I have nothing against MacAllister - he is exactly the kind of player who brings multiple positive intangibles to their team that can be the difference between winning and losing a trophy. He was excellent in the WC, better than Enzo imo. He was everywhere, his constant high press was unbelievable. Even before the WC he was playing very well for Brighton. No idea where they pulled him out from, but most scouts from the bigger clubs should be ashamed of themselves because the talent is undeniable.
He has slowed down a little after the WC, Caicedo had been the better midfielder. No idea where he fits in to our midfield though, and he will cost some serious money.

It's an inflated market, and that's the going rate. Chelsea just paid £105m for Enzo Fernandes who might be younger but IMHO less of player too than Ali Mac.I have nothing against MacAllister - he is exactly the kind of player who brings multiple positive intangibles to their team that can be the difference between winning and losing a trophy. We need a number 8 too as well as 6, that's why I want Thuram. He is faster than Jude, failing him Lavia but Man C will buy him back.Mac Allister and Gravenbersch and you have a good balance of brains, passing, dribbling, technique and athleticism. Have a sitting young destroyer type like Fabinho (Ugarte? Paulinha? Lavia?), and you've got the perfect balance of the 3.
FWIW, Mac Allister is a bit more like Gundogan, as opposed to KDB. Class player still.
