Care about the Scottish national team? No. But really happy for the player, seems like a really decent guy.

No I meant who he took over from as captain, Aul' Davie McIrnBru or whatever.

Being captain of the Scotch is a huge honour for any scotchman, as Alan Hansen will tell you.

He couldn't even make the first team last season and now he's captain. So has Tierney been dropped?

They were a good side in his day. Today, you'd feel about as honoured as the first officer on the Titanic being promoted out of the blue by the erstwhile captain who then heads for the nearest lifeboat.

Elisha Scott was Irish, so could fill the gloves in your team

And I don't know what you mean by "fuck it" Stevie Nicol was my favourite player back in the day. Great all rounder, and he scored a hat trick against the geordies

Fuck it as in his best position by miles was full back. He was twice the player Beglin was but he could play CB Beglin couldnt.

Stevie Nicol would get in my idea of the All-Time XI at fullback but it's worth remembering that one season, when for a variety of reasons he and Gary Ablett were our usual starting CBs, we set some kind of record for fewest goals conceded in a league season.

I remember him playing LB, RB, CB, MF and RW … and when he played RW Barnes was on the opposite wing and I am sure they swapped places once or twice during matches, so we can add LW.

I believe he would have done an excellent job as keeper if the need arose (better than that time when David Burrows tried it … in Moscow I think)

Absolutely loved him and his ginger nuts
