I won't bother trying to spell their last name.

Anyway, Anzhi. With Borini out we ought try and see who else in our team can score from Yesil, Morgan and Pacheco. Hopefully Henderson, Coates etc get a run out and Gerrard gets nowhere near (I don't think he should even feature in 2 games a week anymore)

I'd play:

Basically, I'd want to rest Johnson for the derby (given the internationals action and Reading), so Wisdom at RB again. I'd start with Robinson at LB, but give Enrique a run out in the second half. Thinking being that I'd want Johnson and Enrique fit, rested and up to speed to start on Sunday.

Midfield, I'd play Sahin ahead of Shelvey because I think I'd rather have Shelvey for the derby. Sahin, to me, is still not fully acclimatised to the pace in England, and that could be a problem in the derby. I also think he plays much better at a slower pace in a midfield two, and this should be a good opportunity to prove himself as the main playmaker in the team, and grab that spot in the first team in the long run. Sahin and Henderson have also shown to be a nice partnership the couple of times they've played together and I'd like to see that repeated.

Front 4 picks itself for this game IMO. I'll have Gerrard, Suarez and Sterling on the bench to bring on if required (and they well might be because Anzhi will probably give us a tough game).

I'm afraid Shelvey will get himself sent off in the derby.
 
Most importanly we need a win and to rest Gerrard Suarez and Allen.

The rest is meh. Would be nice to see Shelvey score some goals.
 
i would like to see wisdom as a centre back, i am curious how he would do. him and coates. that right lad mclaughlin on the right.

We'd get battered, Anzhi have a few good players like Eto'o, Zhirkov, Lacina Traore, Chris Samba
 
This is going to be a tough game and one we'll be probably needing to win if we're to progress.

Unfortunately we can't really justify playing Suarez in this one, which leaves us with... well... nothing up front. Tough one for Rodgers.

Hopefully the board will be understanding if we don't progress into the knockout stages given that they offloaded Carroll without getting in a replacement.
 
Yep, Anzhi Mackachakalackalalala are a pretty strong team. Gonna be tough. Love us to win but can't see it.
 
I don't think we should be resting any of the defence, need them to be sharp at the weekend and with it being a home EL game I would prefer us to play a stronger team. I also think if Reina is back from his injury then it is another game for him to test get back to some form:

Be interesting what team BR puts out as this they stronger than Udinese
 
Reina is probably not yet fully fit so he can stay on the bench. We need a strong defence and I don't want to see Carra anywhere near it (he doesn't seem to gel with Coates). Enrique needs to get fit/up to speed, if that doesn't happen then Wisdom/Johnson should be our FBs at the weekend. Otherwise I'd go with Macca's front 6.

Interesting to see this Traore lad they have up front . 6"8 i believe he is , i remember he was linked to us but then very shortly after signed for Anzhi . There wasn't much excitement when he was linked , i think mainly based on his height , but he's scored a few for them .

You and I might not, but I'm not sure Brendan is ready to throw in the towel yet.
Lose against Anzhi and we're surely out of the tournament.

Yeah Suarez and Gerrard starting apparently. Really dont get Rodger's thinking here tbh with Everton to come on Sunday.
