Aspas

Anybody else think he looks a little weird? His head is massive compared to his body and arms!!

He certainly has a childs body.
But i thought he was great today. Best of our front three by miles.

Loved his non stop running and desire to close down the opposition. Not sure he's going to be clinical enough or if he's good enough to be a regular first teamer but I've seen more from him in one game to be confident he'll get more game time than Borini.

He has some sexy touches and showed great spirit in retrieving the ball all the time.
Obviously would prefer Suarez in the lineup instead of him if given the choice but I think he'll get quite a few goals and excite us with some intricate play around the area.
Good signing for sub-10m.

I thought he did OK. Needs to time to get used to the premiership. Tough first game but I guess he now knows what to expect.

His flick to set up that Henderson chance was super. Like him a lot.

He's well better than Borini, who I can't see being here beyond this season. Maybe January even.

Given that Hazard and Coutinho played the full games, while Aspas was removed with 20 minutes remaining, it's an indication of the creativity that the Spaniard can bring to the team. Rodgers was certainly delighted.

"Iago Aspas is a real bright and clever player," he said afterwards. "In and around the edge of the box, he wants to shoot, he wants to combine with people and that's something that's important for us. I thought for 70 minutes he was excellent. Tactically he understands the game and what we're trying to do here."

Indeed, Aspas is perhaps the embodiment of Rodgers' vision for Liverpool with his preference for short passing - so difficult to do well in the final third. With one exception, every pass that the 26-year-old played on Saturday was a short one.

Aspas was involved in the goal, played a series of short passes (blue) and showed clever movement

Impressive debut, against Stoke no less. In one game he already demonstrates clever movement and chemistry with Sturridge and Coutinho. He's like a mishmash of Kuyt, Bellamy and Garcia with his tireless running and flicks and tricks.

He can think and execute quickly which are great qualities to have in the final third. I like what I've seen of him so far and hopefully he can adjust to the Premiership - I reckon it'll take a bit of time for him to properly settle as he can get flung around like a bit of a rag doll.

He is like Suarez in the sense that he hounds defenders which over the course of the season will force mistakes. I was really impressed with him today. Always looking to attack, he could be a great signing.

I hate to break it to you, but the weekend is over and it's Monday. Work beckons - enjoy!

When you consider the lesser wages he's on the Downing he's effectively a straight swap, and it appears to be a very good one.
