Anyone know why we have not had ball boys for the last few years. Always find it a bit weird when we are on the attack, the ball gets put out for a throw onto the track and it rolls back to the halfway line or further and our player has to go and get it.
Remember Stoke having ball boys recently (the irksome little tykes who toweled the ball dry for that Delap buffoon).
Any thoughts?

Maybe Downing can do it.
Rodgers can then bring him by the hand up to the lounge after the game where he can meet some ex players where they can sign his New Era baseball cap.
Special Stew.

I don't recall us ever having ball boys, apart from last season when we had four token ones by the corner flags

regards

I dont understand why the Premier League doesn't have the more than one ball concept akin to the other European leagues.

isn't it up to the individual clubs ? Some have multiple balls , others don't . Well certainly it used to be that way . Wasn't it everton who did it but when winning by a goal they'd send some lads out to collect them all , preventing the chasing team from doing anything quickly .

It does actually make sense, seeing as we're supposed be this fast-moving, relentless, tiki taka 'death by football' kind of team. You'd think getting the ball back into play immediately would be drummed into everyone.

It's probably more to do with the fact that the pitch is so close to the fans, so it makes no sense. Now if we had a running track or if there was a vast expanse between pitch and fans then I would presume we would have them

Is right. The ball boy near us was provided with a chair and rarely showed any inclination to shift his arse from it, unless encouraged to do so. He gave the impression of serving out a Community Service Order.

Everton had ball boys a few years ago. They were trained to fetch the ball quickly when Everton were losing, but they all mysteriously disappeared when Everton were ahead.

I was at this game around 2006 between Ballymena and Portadown in the Irish League, it was funny because the kid was known to be a bit of a chancer....

PORTADOWN keeper Michael Dougherty is facing a lengthy ban for knocking a ball-boy to the ground during Thursday's CIS Cup clash at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

Dougherty received a straight red card after apparently pushing the 12-year-old while retrieving the ball at the side of the pitch during the 1-0 defeat to Ballymena. Referee David Best said he had sent off Dougherty for "violent conduct", an offence which carries an automatic ban of up to four games.

But the Mirror understands the Premier League is prepared to treat the incident as a "special case" and will decide the full nature of the punishment after taking comments from Dougherty and his club. A longer ban could be meted out when the league's next disciplinary committee meets on September 12.

Portadown and Dougherty will be given 14 days to make statements, so it's a possibility that the matter may be dealt with at the league's following meeting in mid-October.

Dougherty, who joined Portadown from Lisburn Distillery in the summer, insists he didn't knock the boy over deliberately. "Anyone who knows me knows that's not in my nature," he said. "I am regretful that it happened, but my studs slipped on the gravel (at the side of the pitch) and I bumped into the young lad. The boy's parents were angry, and rightly so, but I am willing to meet them to apologise."

It is understood police are investigating the incident.
