....according to sky sports, they love our ex managers. im just looking forward to the after match interview where rafa declares his undying love for us and likes the fact we beat them more than sangria

Bad move for Rafa. Rafa excels in european football and won't get much of a chance with Villa.

We're Athletico/Villareal in the Europa league? They would have suited him. I'd rather he didn't come back to England to be honest. The Rafa Benitez discussions will never go away. If he fucks up, "he shits, always was". He does well "he should never have been sacked".

Arghhhhhhhh.

I've got this plan where we all get down to the flight school at Speke airport, nick all the planes, there's about 20 so we should be ok, 15 go off and dive bomb Ellesmere Port oil refinery and the other 5 go and attack Caldy. It will be the best art installation ever. I'll observe in a helicopter and take questions from the press.

Surprised he's gone there at all given he likes full financial control and fair bit of clout behind him too. Maybe he sees it as a challenge and a second chance to get fully to grips with the Premiership, in the hope of another move later on if he does well...

Strange he's not gone back to Spain.

15m for Lucas please Rafa.

I'd rather him take that waste of space Aquilani... it's his fucking fault we're stuck with him in the first place.

I agree with Babyface.

I dunno - I actually think it's a good fit. Rafa clearly loves living in the UK. Villa aren't skint as the Bent for 24m in January proved. They will probably get a bit of money after the sale of Young and Downing. Seems like a good project for him. I reckon he will be a success there.

Note to Rafa:

Should you get the Villa job, be careful how loved up you get next year back at Anfield for your away fixture against us.

There's a bit of previous to consider.......

Rafa... please take the time to ensure that Ashley Young is never sold to Man Ure... remember the facts.... and remember that Argie left back.

In bewteen buying every goalkeeper on the planet (except Pepe) please take the time to sell us Ashley Young on the cheap and offer us 20m for Lucas.

Thanks.

PS.. 25m and Glen Johnson is yours as well....

Strange to think that 12 months after he's gone, there's only Pepe and Kuyt who I'd want to see in the starting 11 of his signings.

If true, the Villa fans should be over the moon - but they won't, because a lot of them are morons.

I really hope Rafa throws a monkey wrench into the machinery and demands £50 Million for Young.

Like he did with Owen?

He'll probably halve the asking price

True. But this is Man U. Real Madrid are Rafa's favourite team.
He can at least delay the transfer or try to convince Young to join us instead.
Remember how Man U didn't want to sell Heinze to us? (Thank God)
It's payback time.

Last season for Villa - Turnover 91m, Wage bill 80m.

Meaning they still need to scale back after backing O'Neill to the hilt while he missed out on the CL.

It's not a good job to take over. It won't go well and I will enjoy it.

Sky Sports sources understand that Rafa Benitez will not be Aston Villa's next manager.

The Spaniard had emerged as the bookmakers favourite to succeed Gerard Houllier, after the likes of Carlo Ancelotti had ruled himself out of the equation.

But now after making initial enquiries, the former Liverpool chief is no longer in the running to take charge.

Villa owner Randy Lerner has flown into England to oversee the appointment of a new manager, and their search now continues.

Mark Hughes, who left Fulham earlier this month, is still being linked despite being ruled out by sources close to the club, along with former England coach Steve McClaren.

"I will not work under another fucking American. FACT"

Can we bring Rafa in as a tactical adviser if we get into the CL in 2012?

Wow I said the same thing in another thread...great minds right? 😉

To be honest I think Rafa is waiting for either Kenny or Mancini to fuck up.

He's settled in Liverpool, so is his wife and kids, and I don't think he wants to move to Birmingham on the other side of the country.

Well, Glenjo, Skrtel and Lucas are all first 11 regulars.

Still, I take your point.

Benitez has also been in contact with Villa, but the former Liverpool manager is understood to have been informed yesterday morning that Villa's transfer budget did not match his ambitions.

Nice.

I don't think I hate Villa as much as I find them incredibly dull.

Maybe Roberrrrrrrrrrrrto will do something about that.

He moved them to Milan quickly enough though didn't he?

Even if Mancini or Kenny do fuck up I doubt Benitez has much of a chance of getting either of those jobs.

Ok, now try relay that message to Rafa.
Inter is too big to pass up. Comparing Villa and Inter are you?

Apparently Rafa turned down A.Madrid and perhaps one or two others back home. He definitely appears to want to stay in England.

Although it's not hard to understand why he turned down A.Madrid (Real allegiance aside).
