"I will not work under another fucking American. FACT"

Can we bring Rafa in as a tactical adviser if we get into the CL in 2012?

Wow I said the same thing in another thread...great minds right? 😉

To be honest I think Rafa is waiting for either Kenny or Mancini to fuck up.

He's settled in Liverpool, so is his wife and kids, and I don't think he wants to move to Birmingham on the other side of the country.

Birmingham's not as far as away as that. Plenty of football folk (and others) have longer commutes.

I'm sure he does want to stay in England but what are his realistic options here? If you take out United, Liverpool and Chelsea, would City or Arsenal want him? Can't see it personally.

Suddenly he's down to the next tier of clubs isn't he?

I realise at the moment we are in that next tier of clubs but probably not as far as Benitez is concerned!

I suspect he's nailed on to stay on Merseyside until the girls grow up, because I don't think Montse will allow the family to be moved again beforehand even if Rafa wanted that, and he probably doesn't anyway.

He may not mind dropping down a tier if he thinks he might then have a shot at the Liverpool job again post-Kenny. As for the question of where he might go - if Harry's the next England manager....

Yeah Spurs might be an option for him.

Owners at any club will be wary though. Three clubs in a row now where he's left because he's fallen out with his bosses.

I can absolutely guarantee that for a long as FSG are in charge Rafa will never work for us again.

The reality is he won't find the ideal job he wants because his method (like plenty of other managers - O'Neill, Harry etc) of spending a lot and significantly increasing the wage bill and getting out when the bills need paying, is the reason why the majority of the Premiership need to cut back right now.

All the clubs theoretically on the level just under us need to cut back to comply with FFP rules- Villa, Spurs etc. Maybe in about two years time he might be happy to work at one of those clubs.

Us, United, and Arsenal are the only clubs with a chance of European qualification that can meet the new guidelines.

Just reading in the paper now that McLaren wanted the job but was told 'thanks but no thanks'.

Bit harsh that. He's not THAT bad!

The Villa turning him down doesn't make him a bad manager though (not that I think he's a particularly good one either - in my view he remains an overpromoted coach).

BTW the BBC Midlands TV news is bigging up the prospects of Roberto Martinez now.
