The Thursday/Sunday thing fucks it. If it was Thursday/Monday it would be much better. With CL qualification it id definitely worth winning.

If they don't make money, we don't get top players or develop the club in other respects. I don't want us to play sh!t, but however we play I'd sooner get 4th than play swashbuckling football to win a shiny pot which means bugger all, because the league is what will make us a dynasty again.
Success breeds success. We exist to win trophies. Success in Europe also attracts players, gives us a bigger profile, reminds people we are Liverpool and we succeed in Europe. That was pathetic from start to finish and made us look like seriously second rate outfi and stopped our momentum in its tracks.
Yep, agree that it attracts big players. As does getting fourth as it would also means champion league next year and the means to pay for those big players we all want.
Cl next year is crucial.
So for me it's all about which way fives us the best odds of getting in. Staying I'm the Europa league and pushing for fourth? I don't think we have the squad. So it's down to Europa or the league. I think we have more chance of getting fourth. So am I arsed about dropping out? No. Will I be if we don't get fourth? Yep. Just like I would have been in we pushed for the Europa league to lose at the end and not grab fourth because we prioritised Europe.
Is it a great trophy to win? Is it bollokcs? Most the lfc fans I know of only mention it because of the manner in which we won in the final. Otherwise is all about Istanbul, the league and the fa cup.
Ever wonder why it's on itv4?
It's almost as if even the hacks are too bored by the Europa League to criticise it. I don't think I've ever watched a final, I couldn't tell you any of the winners and I couldn't care less. It must raise oodles of cash for UEFA but it's an outrageous strain on clubs and players. That competition and the meaningless friendly internationals we get these days deserve to be chopped. There's a place for a secondary European competition but it should just consist of knockout games over two legs.
My point is there are only four trophies to play for at the start of every season. Not 24. Winning anything is a huge achievement. Look at the way Chelski celebrated yesterday. I can't stand this attitude that a trophy is somehow second rate just because the media keep going on about it being so. They are twats who know fuck all. Being ion Dortmund was epic, and one of the finest trips I've ever taken. If you think the league cup or Europa cup don't mean anything then we can only politely disagree.
Of course they mean something, they mean a lot. But, in the grand scheme of things, when we don't have the kinda resources that the more affluent teams have, we still can't push at full tilt on all fronts, I'm my opinion. Which is why I think being out of the Europa is a blessing. I think we will get fourth at least now. Don't think we would have gotten fourth or won the Europa whilst pushing for both. I think one had to give and I'd rather the Europa.
Do I think it's a great cup to win? Nope. But would I want us to win it? Hell yeah. Same for the league cup. Its just the expense that it would have come at that bothered me mate.
