Big Sir Jim's massive folly

They surely can't let go of Fernamdes, Diallo or Mainoo. Antony and Sancho have burnt bridges, they'll be sold. Their problem is there aren't more than 5-6 players worth keeping. They are up to their necks an sinking.

They’ll end up having to subsidise their wages for the rest of their original contract too.

Offer them £50m for Yorro and tell them to use the profit to buy tissues for Rio Ferdinand to wipe away his tears.

We were discussing this topic at the weekend and imagining a world where a cartel of club owners just all made an agreement that no one buys united players and let's them suffer.

Saying that, I'd have Garnacho in a heartbeat and looks like they'd consider 0.7m 😎

Garnacho!!!!

He’s shite.

And he has a mongy face.

Mainoo could possibly be decent. Need a lot of work though. Have him shadow Macca and see what happens

Poverty FC Utd, hopefully Wolves tell them to either fuck off and meet the clause or tell them we’re happy to take payments over 5 years but the price become £85m

Some good quotes in the Grauniad's review of the year (worst things to happen)...

Sir Big Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United revolution continues to cause shivers of embarrassment. Every mistake imaginable, gutting a club for no glory, just utterly naff. There might be some sympathy for someone wanting to make his boyhood club great again making such a mess of things if only Jim’s minions had afforded those laid off with anything approaching decency. Being a billionaire should not grant the privilege of treating human beings like a packet of surplus paperclips.

Rasmus Højlund has never looked a £7.2m striker, let alone a £72m one.

Jim Ratcliffe. The Manchester United co-owner has offered a masterclass in how not to run a football club. Ratcliffe’s lack of class has served as a betrayal of far too many good people at Old Trafford.

Jim Ratcliffe. How is it possible to somehow look worse than the Glazers? Ratcliffe has somehow managed it, with redundancies, mean-spirited cutbacks, inexplicable public statements and a managerial appointment that seemingly paid no attention to the makeup of the squad.

Do you think they saw that pic of Cunha waving and thought he was dropping a hint as to how many instalments to offer?
Honestly, they're lucky they get to pay in three instalments, a lot of release clauses require the full amount up front and the fact they can pay in three is probably down to Cunha's agent being savvy.

That report doesn't actually say they've agreed to pay in three instalments. Wouldn't it be a shame if they still tried to pull a fast one and the whole thing collapsed around them oh please oh please.

It's way more funny to laugh at them going on an Asia tour and people not showing up, and the BBC running a headline of "why support a team that loses a lot."

This Cunha thing just seems like normal negotiation with a player they think is committed.

Gradually watching Goldbridge’s descent into madness due to United being always shitter than he could possibly imagine is some kind of devious, fantastic entertainment. Just need the Cunha deal to fall apart for final nail in the coffin.

The final nail is relegation.

He does not strike me as the type of the player they need to get back up the table.

Hot head, prone to a sending off and doesn’t like to run.

It would also be the trigger for fully dynorodding their hopeless first team squad. The only way I can see for them to get rid of all that dross is if they can't pay the wages any more.

it’s tough to know what’s best from a liverpool fan pov. the talented overpaid troublemaker might be just the ticket. although watching them fail to attract or afford their targets is equally appealing

Nah. Even better is for Cunha to sign and then be utterly shit and fall out with Amorim.
