My defence would be that every Italian player had pre-prepared teeth marks in their shoulder, and then when the chance arose for one of them to shoulder him in the mouth they took it, hoping to get him sent off.

Totally. It's weird and a bit disgusting, but it's stupid that it's just taken as read that it's completely heinous. Breaking someone's leg? 3 match ban. Nipping someone? 2 year ban from all football.

what is there to get upset about ? It may not be the most mature thing to do and he obviously deserves criticism but in the grand scale of things and what's going on in the world it's not exactly the biggest deal .
And people bang on like he's got some deep psychological disorder and needs lots of help or locking up . Does he have a drink or drug issue , does he gamble uncontrollably , does he beat his missus , does he abuse kids , does he suffer depression , anxiety , is he not taking his meds ? . No .
