We can't compete with Chelsea's money or location. We're ahead of United, in the Champions League, in the semi finals of the Carling Cup and have lost our best former player and are without our top striker, we're 7th (and one win off cunting 3rd), that was our first loss in the league since mid September and there are 28 fucking games left to play. Bit early to panic?

Stop with the negativity.

It's tough mate - we struggle to break down teams now in the premier league constantly, and are basing all our optimism of pushing up the table on an injury prone striker (albeit a good one).

There is little chemistry in going forward ... Our midfield lacks consistent attacking quality, and our defense struggles with mental lapses. Granted, we could be in a worse position but I don't think we get out of the CL group, and I'd be very impressed if we can stay behind 3rd/4th by December if Studge has yet to play ... Fucking Hodgson.

We spent how much over the summer and we rely heavily on one injury prone player?
We hardly create chances anymore. Last season we'd have 4+ good chances in most of our matches. Now, we are lucky to create 1 or 2. That's very worrying.

Like Keni said, it's his team now, so blaming the players doesnt wash.

But the cries for "Rodgers out" are retarted.. get a grip, knee jerk pricks.

If we cant compete with Chelsea's money or location, is the only other option left spend 20 million on defenders who cant defend and attackers who can score goals or create goal scoring opportunity. I think the pessimism is more due to the fact that apart from Spurs, we have not seen one decent performance this season.

Brendan on Tottenham last year: "When you spend £100m on players, you should be winning the league"

Agree with every word. It's his fault and his problem entirely, but like fuck should we sack him. That's just massively fucking stupid.

Out of the ones quoted, I'd say all of the above are either a success of the jury is still out, so it's not really a case of us being able to comment (people like Yesil, Teixeia, Ilori - and of course, the new signings).

Şahin, Moses and Cissokho were loans, Toure was a free and did a job earlier last season. Lallana looks a player, Assaidi has looked good for other clubs and will be a sell on asset, Can and Markovic are two touted young European talents (personally I like Can, not impressed with Markovic yet).

Origi is a huge prospect, Moreno and Manquillo have been pretty good so far, and we know all about Coutinho and Sturridge. I think it's early days with Lovren (Sakho too arguably, as the defense has looked disorganised, it's difficult to see if it's the players or system). .

Mario, Borini, Mignolet, Lambert and the three loan signings look woefully short, you can add Aspas to that and maybe Alberto too, so he's made mistakes, not many managers haven't (Keane, Aquilani, Dossena, Degan, Nunez, Josemi, Pellegrino, Morientes, Zenden, Carson, N'Gog, Jovanovic, etc).

Mark you are a real fan and a positive thinker and I respect that but it is not unfair to criticise what's going on at the moment. If that is the best list we can come out with then the criticism of the incoming transfers stands, it looks like a hell of a lot of gambles to me at the minute.

I only really got concerned about it last night shortly after we conceded yet another shitty goal in a another toothless performance and I allowed the thought to cross my mind that maybe us all sitting around thinking that it will be alright when we get Sturridge back is a tad optimistic.

We have played well just once this season.

Strikers:
Alberto 7M
Aspas 6M
Ballotelli 16M
Lambert 4M
Yesil 1M
Origi 10M
Sturridge 12M
Borini 10M

So far only one of those players has done anything at all for us, but as of right now it looks pretty scattergun to me! So far 12/66 M used well.

Midfielders:
Coutinho 8M
Markovic 20M
Allen 15M
Can 10M
Lallana 22M
Assaidi 3M

Harder to judge perhaps, you can argue about the contributions of Allen and Lallana also Can at least seems to have potential, Markovic seems to have fear only. Where is the successful player? As it happens I like Lallana and Coutinho has flashes and Allen can also do a job but none of them are really doing it for us consistently are they. It's telling perhaps when we judge Assaidi as a success because he played quite well for a few months for Stoke.

Defence
Mignolet 12(?)M
Manquillo LOAN
Moreno 12M
Lovren 20M
Sakho 20M
Ilori 7M
Toure Free

Again not so easy to judge. But we sure are still shipping shitty goals and those are hefty price tags too.

In justifiable defence of those transfers you can argue that a good number of those listed above may well have quality and turn the team around but the point is looking at it right now we are looking at a fat list of expensively assembled players which includes just the 1 unquestionable success, and he is made of glass.

Another fair defence is to say that we have not been following the same transfer policy of the Oil clubs because we simply cannot, by it's very nature that list will contain players who will maybe come good with a following wind etc etc... valid point...sure...

It sucks to be clinging onto the hope of Sturridges return and that isn't good enough.

Bombast, rhetoric, overblown, kneejerk, sure....sure! ... I see the counter arguments. I've got no axe to grind.

I think we should expect a lot more from 215M.

Has anyone said in this thread he needs to be sacked?

But he clearly needs to change his ideas, as it is obviously not working. The best man to get us out of this shit is Rodgers.
