Bringing in Sarr.. a deal to far ?

I didn't see him last night but the few games I saw him play in the Bundesliga since the restart I didn't think much of him.
He lacked composure and missed some sitters.
Small sample size though

Basically the same as last night. Was the first time I'd seen him and I was crying out for them to take him off.

Have we considered a winger that isn't from west Africa?
Sarr
Djenepo
Diaby
Daka
Boga

Kinda following a pattern here aren't we? :D

Tete at Shakhtar could also turn out to be quite good, but we have a very bad history of negotiating with Russian and Ukrainian clubs (Konoplyanka, Willian, Alex Teixeira).
There were very good reasons for all those failures - motorbike breakdowns and Chinese megabucks !

Apparently he's going to sign for Palace. Good how the covid pandemic didn't affect their income innit.

Absolutely HAVE to have someone lined up when you’re about to sell your best player and talisman, no? Very little to do with income, a lot to do with getting someone in before everyone sees how much you have to spend given your recent sale of a player.

Are they selling Zaha?

Are they selling Zaha?
Yup. Been jockeying for a move for over a year, and now probably going to get his wish if a “big club” comes in - think he’s angling for Arsenal, but I would guess Willian might have put a fly in the ointment

Haha. That’s why he’s still at Palace— even pre-pandemic, he wasn’t worth half that, premier league premium or not.

If Hodgson is still in charge, he’ll sink there. Meyer is probably wondering what the hell he is doing in London at all.

If its a loan to buy, and we arent in for him. Then our interest surely cant be that serious. That type of deal would suit us right now I can imagine.

Yep and usually when we're interested we don't just stand around waiting for something to happen. We would have already made a bid.
He's probably on the list, but not that high up.
Also, we need to factor in that Shaq and Wilson haven't left so there is no room for a new signing maybe.

Hes worth more than Sarr, I reckon Zaha will go for £45m or there abouts. A club would have to be insane to pay that for Sarr
Quite a number of people say that but I just feel that Zaha’s time has been. He’s not massively improved since that failed move to Man U, Pundits keep excusing him all the time but maybe Palace is his ceiling. In which case £45 million would be generous.

[article]Watford are ready to demand a club-record fee of over £40million for Ismaila Sarr, amid interest from Liverpool and clubs around Europe.

Crystal Palace and Wolves are also tracking the 22-year-old, while sides in Germany and Spain have scouted the winger after he scored six goals during his first season in England.

Clubs are now ready to pounce for Sarr after Watford were relegated, but the Hornets are ready to fight hard and will demand a fee in excess of the record £40m Everton paid for Richarlison in 2018.

Watford spent £30m to sign Sarr from Rennes last summer and there is a belief the player’s value has only increased after a year in England, while the club are in a strong position given that the Senegal international has four years left on his contract.

Crystal Palace have expressed a keen interest in the winger and scouted him while he was at Rennes, but it is thought they could be priced out of a move.

Instead, Liverpool are emerging as frontrunners to sign Sarr and the Reds have watched him in action.

The winger would fit the profile of player Jurgen Klopp is after and, at just 22, has plenty of years to develop further.

Sarr himself would be keen on a move to Liverpool, or another top-six side, but a switch to Anfield is particularly attractive given it would allow him to play alongside his hero, Sadio Mane.

The pair came through the same academy in Senegal and such is Sarr’s love for Mane he often watches YouTube clips of the Liverpool winger before matches.

Watford owner Gino Pozzo has shown over the years he is a stubborn transfer negotiator and he will drive a hard bargain over Sarr too.

The club’s finances have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and relegation from the Premier League, but there is no need for a fire sale.

Some players will, of course, leave, with midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure one of those likely to go, but Watford do not need to sell all their star players this summer.

Funding a deal for Sarr could prove problematic for Liverpool, but it could be financed by selling the likes of Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Those sales could bank over £50m for the Reds and will increase the likelihood of a late swoop for Sarr.[/article]

Sarr wants to go:

“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there,” he told French outlet SansLimitesn.com.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But there are other great teams in the English league.

“Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If I am to leave, I just hope it is for a good team. At the moment, it is just guesswork.

“Everyone who works is looking for advancement. Maybe if Watford frees me one day I could go and play for a bigger team. Go and showcase my talent elsewhere and then win trophies.”

The rumour mill this morning..

Brewster £25 bid with buy back clause accepted from Sheffield UTD

Liverpool will offer £25 + addons for Sarr as back up for the front 3

Didn't they sign him for £30M?

Doesn't make sense that they would sell for £25m.
