Nah, just say they can't have Torres then.

Roland, I should have put in bold the bit about " that pricks not worth 6 million" that's what I was getting at.

The rest I'm sure we all agree he's not worth the monies being talked about. It reminds me a bit of when MU signed Carrick for 16-18m....
Ok I apologise for calling him a prick. But there is no way on this planet he is worth more than 7 million. I stand by the fact you can better for the same money had he not be in possession of a British passport.

So what he has done well this season. Michael ricketts did it for a season.

We're getting raped on this deal if we're indeed offering 10M.

So much for the "value" transfers.

If he plays at and above his current level for the next however many years then I wouldn't necessarily say we are getting raped.

Bit of a gamble though, that much is for sure.

I'm not 100% convinced by suarez either, though I've only seen him a handful of times - so the prospect of spending 35m on 2 long term un-proven players a bit scary.

I'd rather we went all out for young or the cheaper nzog today and got adam cheap in the summer- if he's still playing well..

Couldn't agree more, £6m maximum or we should walk away.

Is Adam worth the 12-16 million asked for, bunny?
I don't think he's the player we need at all, personally. I just think Carrick is a strange example of an overvalued player: he looks pretty shit now, but he helped that team tick for three seasons, in all of which they won the league. I'd say he's pretty much justified his transfer fee.

£10m would probably be overpaying but we are in such a need of improvement I'm not really bothered if he costs a couple of million more than he should. It's a tough time to do business and we really can't expect to get the best quality/pound ratio now. If he makes the difference between say 8th and 7th spot that couple of million has been well worth it anyway.

That said he was absolutely imperious against the Mancs the other day and if he can play even close to that level consistently then he'll be worth a lot more than £10m.

Kenny obviously rates Adam but the question is shouldn't we wait until the summer to get him while shipping out the deadwood as well? CM is not a priority and getting in some attacking talent makes sense.

Adam will have 12 months left on his contract in the summer and give us a strong bargaining chip. Get in Young and N'zogbia to add some flair to our flanks because its unlikely that we'll get in another striker unless we get Caroll. Whatever happens, we must move quickly.

The only thing good about Adam is his passing range. He's not worth 10mill, i'd rather give Suso a chance, his range of passing is just as good if not better. Adam is seriously unfit, he faded out completely in that Utd game, I know the whole team did but he's the captain so he's supposed to lead by example

I'm more inclined to trust Kenny's judgement as to whether or not he's good enough. Also, the fee is a bit irrelevant. It's only a problem if...well...money is a problem.

Sheikh the issue is every fucker knows once Nando goes we are flush with cash. I'd expect that country farmer to turn around and demand £16mill possibly more.

They've already lined up Andy Reid as a replacement apparently, so theyre definitely just pushing it for the maximum amount of cash possible.

8m is over-paying.

And what kind of fucking Prozone/ Opta stats are Blackpool using?! Charlie Adam to Andy Reid? Jan Molby can expect a call before deadline day!

Passing range, goals, magnificent set-piece delivery, set-piece shot, ability to set tempo, ability to hold onto the ball in midfield...

On the few occasions I've seen Adams he has been impressive. If Dalglish thinks he's worthy then I wouldn't query the aquisition too much (especially as I won't be paying!).

If we are to believe that we have been negotiating for as long as it appears then Kenny must be very keen. I hope he signs as we want footballers who can aid the type of pass and move football that Kenny as a player and Manager has delivered before.

How many times have you seen Adam play? Because there sure is a lot more to his game than his passing range.

And how can you even compare Suso and Adam? From what I've seen they are completely different players. Also just throwing Suso there with huge pressure on him would be the perfect way to shoot his confidence to pieces and hinder his development.

I think he's a good player, but I don't understand the idea of it doesnt matter how much it costs.

That kind of thinking is why we have posts about how we're shit because of a 'sell to buy' policy (as opposed to just buying shit)and threads about why Spurs are so rich.

I think Adam is a fairly risk free signing even if we end up paying a couple of million over our valuation. In the end he probably wouldn't be that expensive as he's desperate to sign and wouldn't demand huge wages. If he doesn't fit in or isn't good enough he'll be fairly easily sold onwards too. There's next to no chance of him becoming a burden to our wage bill doing fuck all(like Poulsen and Jova).

I keep thinking like Keniget, that we shouldnt allow ourselves to be rimmed. But the longer i think about it the more i want our board to back Kenny all the way. If hes the man Kenny wants then just get him.
As Sheik says its not like its going to put us in administration anymore, we arent owned by rBs.
If kenny wants him, and they want 10m, and we can afford it. Do it.

Exactly so, you and Sheiky are spot on.
Why is everyone wittering on about how much we should and not pay for Charlie Adam, and getting their knickers in a twist over how much Anelka's wages might or might not be. If Kenny and the powers that be think Adam is the player we need, fucking buy him, just like they did with Suarez.
Statistically Charlie Adam is one of the ten top players in the premiership this season and I have seen nothing to suggest he is there in error.
So £10m is not an unreasonable price.
He looks a fucking good player and certainly better by a country mile than at least two of our regular starters.

regards

There's nothing wrong with over-paying for a player if he's quality; we've always done that in the '70's and '80's.

But when we have so many weaknesses all over the pitch, overpaying by 4-5 million here or there just deducts funds from elsewhere,Vladders.

Unless of course we're thinking FSG is going to burn through several chequebooks, which doesnt look all that likely.

and what evidence is there for that Avvy? Particularly as they have just sanctioned the purchase of our record signing, and were trying to avoid taking £50m out of the Torres deal

There isn't; but it seems to me that the way they've talked about how they plan to run the club, that would be more logical.

The first thing they complained about when they got in was the amount of money being spent on the reams of shit accumulated over the years, after all.

I like Adam FWIW; but if I were Henry and heard that Adam was going for 12 million pounds the first thing I'd ask Kenny would be 'would you prefer Defour at say 15'?
