Charlie Adam

Going to be interesting to see what happens with Meireles and Aquilani now. Aqua is already out of favour but now Meireles must be feeling a little unwanted.
I'd be disappointed to see Raul leave though.

As for Adam, really am delighted he's finally a Red. I've read a lot of comments from Liverpool fans that have been critical of him, calling him fat and all sorts - maybe tongue in cheek but i don't think there's any need for it.
I actually think Adam will play more than Henderson. I think he'll go straight into the side, whereas Henderson being only 20, might be eased into it.

Two players that can add energy and creativity to our team so i'm happy enough. Now for a left back, winger and central defender. Possibly another striker as well. :D

That's not a defensive role though, is it?

Aren't you making yourself look like a tit now?

But it isn't a defensive role

Don't think we need another striker considering that we've got Kuyt.

we need a better option than n'gog

Carroll's injury problems worry me. I'm not saying we should go out and spend big £££ on a striker, far from it.

However should a decent forward become available then we should take an interest.

In summary, a new striker isn't a priority but it would be nice if we could get one.

I corrected myself and wrote a deep role and he burned me on that as well. So I'm guessing I can't say that he can play in a deep role or a defensive role cause that makes me look stupid and someone has taken over my account and I'm media conglomerate Rupert Murdoch for some reason.

How about we scratch Ngog from the list and have Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll as our only strikers. Could work?

we need another striker though, for cups and incase of injuries, although we would be better having a 4-5-0 than having ngog there

Lawro's view if anyone cares...

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/mark-lawrenson/Mark-Lawrenson-Why-this-move-will-make-Charlie-Adam-a-better-player-and-Liverpool-a-better-team-article760571.html

Why this move will make Charlie Adam AND Liverpool better

Charlie Adam will add something Liverpool have not had since Xabi Alonso left - superb passing from deep.

The Scot will add progressive passing rather than knocking it sideways. He picks people out in the front three with diagonal balls that leaves you thinking, "How good is that?"

Adam also gives Liverpool a left-foot delivery, which they previously didn't have. He will allow Gerrard to play further forward and will get you goals himself from set-pieces and from distance.

He is also a player who will improve by playing with better players.

Suarez, Gerrard, Carroll... they will all benefit.

It could end up that he will be playing Gerrard in. What a novelty that will be.

Adam hits people from 45 yards, bang, with a great pass. Talk about turning defence into attack.

People might say he is not particularly quick, not a good tackler, but I think in a good team, if you have lots of the ball, you want his kind of player.

In a bad team, you may need a tackler-chaser-harrier type, but this is a positive-thinking signing.

After selling Fernando Torres for £50million, you have got to expect to pay over the odds a couple of times. Is it a problem? Not really.

Jordan Henderson will be up and down and can be Adam's legs. They would work together - Adam on the ball with time to pass, and Henderson up there trying to get into the box.

If they get Stewart Downing as well, Kenny Dalglish will not be worried about who plays where. It will be back to the old Liverpool days of 'Get a place in the first team and keep it'.

It is a good signing.

Adam is not Alonso, who was a top, top player, but his passing can be Alonso-esque, which is something Liverpool have missed.

He is quality.

Adam put the finishing touches to his move from Blackpool after successfully passing a medical and putting pen to paper on his new Anfield deal.

With speculation rife for months that the Scottish midfielder would be on his way to Merseyside, Adam is now happy to focus on the future and play his part in the club's quest for honours.

"I am absolutely delighted to be here," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It has been a long process but now I can't wait to get started and hopefully this will be a successful period in my career and in the club's history.

"Liverpool is a massive club with terrific players and a terrific manager. You have seen since the new manager came in the forward strides that have been made. Kenny has a terrific respect from players and people in the game. He is a wonderful manager and it's an honour to be able to say I'm going to be able to play for Liverpool.

"I see this as the perfect development for me to come here, play with such wonderful players and hopefully help the team to win trophies, because that's the most important thing.

"I'm delighted to be able to walk out on the same pitch as some of the players here. There are good players at the club, top, top players who I want to learn from. I want to become a better player and hopefully bring something to the team.

"Hopefully we can have a successful period because it's been missing now for a couple of years. At the end of the day you get judged on trophies and as a footballer you want to win as many as you can. This club has had a lot of success over the years, so let's get back to doing that."

Adam silenced the Kop last season by netting a penalty at the Kop end during Blackpool's shock 2-1 Anfield victory - but now he's looking forward to instead putting smiles on the faces of Liverpool fans.

"Since I've known about Liverpool's interest I've been looking at the website and obviously playing here last season, the passion of the supporters, they know what it means and they're there to support the team. That's what you want as a player, to know the fans will back you to the hilt through thick and thin.

"I tasted Anfield last year, scoring here was an unbelievable feeling and hopefully I've got many more days like that as a Liverpool player."

One thing Adam could be forgiven for is feeling a sense of relief at no longer having to face a daily bombardment of messages on his Twitter account from fans desperate for a transfer update.

"It's been difficult because everyone has been asking what's happening and I haven't known," he said. "I'm just glad it's done now and I can focus on the football. I'm here to play football and we are looking forward to a successful season and a successful future for Liverpool Football Club."

Heh, genuinely I do hope he does well, and I actually don't think he's a bad player at all. Just thought the Molby/Alonso/Best passer in the league stuff was a tad much s'all.

Funny from the Mirror

"With Adam joining the likes of Andy Carroll, Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly, it reinforces the view that Dalglish (inset) wants to populate his squad with players who have a Christian name where their surname should be."

As Vlad, Rosco and a few others have mentioned, i like his attitude to keep himself fit so he is ready for the big step up.

To make it here, you must first want it....and all signs points to the belief that Adam really wants this. Pity you can't say the same about Joe Cole or Aquilani, they both seem to think they have already made it. It's a big surprise when they have two stunning examples of players who still demonstrate that Hunger after all these years right in front of them....i'm talking about Carra and Gerrard of course.

I think he might surprise us.

May i ask why no body seems to rate Adam's ability to shield the back 4? Alonso did that quite well, and Adam from what i have seen seems capable. May be his role will be to play that deep lying play-maker type role. In that case we can have Gerrard/Lucas and Meireles/Henderson along side him.
