People said a lot of the same things about Konchesky "knows the Premiership", "will be an improvement on what we've got" and so forth.

I'm hoping this one will end up a little different. At least Adam has talent, which I suppose is encouraging.
I think a few of us said he (Konchesky)would be a steady average sort of left back, we were wrong. No one saw hem turning out as shite as he did.
As I say Adam must be, statistically at least in the top ten premiership mid fielders

regards

It does concern me a little that he's been playing professional football for seven years and has only 6 caps.

So basically, babel's good because he tweets, but adam's not because he's not a looker?
Sadly that seems to be about it

Oh lighten up SG, I'm *joking*. Jokes aside, I think selling Babel is the right decision, he's on a lot of money and despite his 'potential' it's clear it's not gonna happen or him here, so good luck to him.

I'm happy about the Adam signing, he's young and a Prem player, I hope he's able to make the transition. He's someone who can pass the ball well and I think he'll help us to retain possession of the ball, we need a playe of his mould, someone who will stay in the middle of the park and keep the play ticking along, I don't think we should be paying beyond £6mill ish for him though, however I fear we will.

Oyston "We try not to negotiate thru the media" LFC have said nothing about Adam! it's Blackpl speakin in the press! tryin to push price up?

Holloway knows Adam, his best player, is "really important to us in staying up," as he put it – a challenge which, with Manchester United and Tottenham to play twice, plus Arsenal and Chelsea on home soil where Blackpool have tended to come off worst, is "a huge mountain to climb". Where, the manager asked rhetorically, are the four wins from 17 games Blackpool need actually going to come from? Yet there may never be a better time to sell Adam than in the middle of a glowing first season, and to judge by the song emanating from the home dressing room when West Bromwich Albion were in town three days ago, all the players know that Anfield is the place where the 25-year-old Scot wants to be.

"Charlie walked down the corridor and he's one of the last to get in the dressing room. So I walk in behind him and the lads are singing 'Walk on, walk on," Holloway revealed. "And he just laughed."

Saw the press conference of Holloway yesterday and I think the media thingy was in reference to how the press knew of the request 'within 10 mins of it being submitted' - to quote Ian. Guess part of the aim was directed to whoever leaked it.

Chairman Karl Oyston was infuriated to find news of the transfer request leaked to broadcast media and, in Holloway's mind, that may cause him to dig his heels in and refuse to sell. "If my chairman thinks that [leak] has come from somewhere... he is the most pig-headed, stubborn bloke I have met in my life," the manager said.

Yes it's a bit rich. As is this.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has revealed Premier League side Blackpool have shown an interest in attacking duo Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd.

Posh sold Aaron Mclean to Hull for £1.3 million earlier this month but Fry is determined to hold onto the remaining two of their star trio.
He told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "I have had conversations with Blackpool chairman Karl Oysten and manager Ian Holloway.
"They have shown an interest in Boyd and Mackail-Smith as Holloway is an admirer of them both but neither player will be going there as they won't pay what we want.
"We wouldn't sell Boyd for £2million anyway. We turned down £2.5m last season so why would we sell him for less now?
"We don't need to sell anyone. We are trying to build a team to get promoted."

Are Scottish players - such as Adam - classed as homegrown or not?

I'm guessing not as they have their own league, FA etc., right?

Don't think they do count Keni.

"To qualify as home grown, a player will have had to be registered for at least three seasons at an English or Welsh club between the ages of 16 and 21."

Ian Holloway: 'Liverpool will need £16m if they want Adam'
By Ian Herbert

Tuesday, 25 January 2011

The Blackpool manager, Ian Holloway, has suggested that Liverpool may need to part with £16m to secure the services of the midfielder Charlie Adam. Damien Comolli's telephone call on Sunday asking how much the club want for the player was the latest to be rebuffed.

Though Liverpool would be unlikely to pay anywhere near that sum, Holloway said yesterday that Blackpool "could finish bottom" without Adam. But by unexpectedly insisting that Adam has the qualities of Xabi Alonso and suggesting that Liverpool would be "fools" not to improve on Friday's £4m offer, it is clear that the club are ready to cash in.

Liverpool director of strategy Comolli's trip to Amsterdam to negotiate a deal for the Ajax player Luis Suarez did not deliver a result yesterday as the Dutch side continue to play hardball but Holloway, in a change from his previous refusal to countenance a move for Adam, said Liverpool were on the list of elite clubs he would sell to. Aston Villa are no longer interested.

"I think they're mad not to buy him off us because I think he can replace Xabi Alonso, which [with respect to] Raul Meireles they've not done yet," Holloway said. "If I was the Liverpool manager I would have him in my team by now. If the player is good enough then sign him and that's what they should do. Put up or shut up, it's as simple as that."

In a direct call to the chairman of Blackpool, Karl Oyston, on Sunday night, Comolli asked for a valuation but Holloway suggested that Oyston was unimpressed with that approach. "Damien Comolli rang my chairman faffing about," Holloway said.

Last night Liverpool confirmed that Ryan Babel has agreed a move to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. He will fly to Germany today to finalise the deal.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston hopes Charlie Adam will stay at Bloomfield Road and help the club maintain their position in the Barclays Premier League.
Oyston accused Liverpool of 'playing a game and not particularly well' after Blackpool turned down the Reds' offer of £4million for the midfielder.
He said: 'We'd like him to stay and give us a real good tilt at staying up. If he clears off now he really drops us in it because so much depends on us remaining in the Premier League.
'It's just the way people go about these things that is upsetting. We try not to negotiate through the media or unsettle other clubs' players.
'The way you behave in these deals defines you as a club. They're trying to play a game and not particularly well. All they have done is get our backs up.
'Charlie and his agent are desperate. Charlie may think the opportunity to join Liverpool might go away so there's always that hint of desperation.
'Birmingham and Aston Villa also made offers but thus far we've had nothing put to us that is remotely sensible. It remains to be seen what is an acceptable amount. We don't want to sell and more importantly we don't need to sell. They [Liverpool] must make an offer that is too big to ignore.'

More hypocrisy. Considering they are doing exactly the same thing with Peterborough and recently with Bradley Wright-Phillips. Plus the we try not to negotiate throught the media" bit. Shut the fuck up then. There's only Blackpool prattling on about it.

I saw that piece earlier and was left wondering where did they get the £16m from? I don't see any quotes mentioning it.

Tell them we have £16million, but we're not giving it to them.
You're never gonna be any good at negotiations.

Fuck it. he can wait till the summer when we'll get him for around 7m tops

Spend the money on someone else.
