Adam has been excellent. 2 corners and 2 goals. Great passing abilty and well worth the money.
TBF the second one was deflected.
Heh, still he hits it with such pace and presicion that it's dangerous every time. Very difficult to defend against.
to be even more pedantic, he has taken a lot more than two corners/free kicks, some of which he has kicked straight to touch.

If he was playing for our team, we'd be crying out for someone to relieve him of his corner taking duty.

We don't have the players to convert his good corner kicks, and the end result is that we will focus our efforts on criticizing his shitty corners.
You're telling me that we don't have players in our squad that aren't better than DJ Campbell at heading the ball??
We'd have a sight more firepower on the end of his good corners if Stevie was told to get his arse into the area and get on the end of them.
True that. Stevie is one of the best at our club, when it comes to attacking set-pieces.

But at any rate i think Stevie is a pretty good corner taker, and i don't really know if Charlie Adam is better than him at delivering them based on what i'm seeing right now and the two games against us (which is very little evidence, frankly)

Like I said, well worth 8m.

He's our by the way, they were just getting this game out of the way.

I speak truff.
For realsies?

Hansern...don't get me wrong, i think he is a good player, and wouldn't be disappointed if we bought him.

But some of you are going way over the board (2 corners = 2 goals etc..) in praising the lad. It portrays him as Ronaldinho in a new body suite. His set-piece skills are good and adequate but it's nothing special. I think Aurelio is better than Adam at it...

Adam isn't helping us out here. With this performance, you can add an extra million on Holloway's valuation of him.

There are better at the club than stevie taking corners, meireles for one and aurelio (but he doesnt really count because hes never fit). Ive brought this up before. I would prefer to have stevie in the box should we sign adam but with stevie always pulling rank i wouldnt expect it!

any truth in the rumour that Rangers get 20% of any transfer fee?

Fair comment, but he wouldn't have to be. We are so short of a cutting edge to finish our dead ball kicks, and have been for so long now, that it's clear to me that Stevie would be better used at the sharp end. A proportion of wasted kicks would be a price worth paying IMO. They're largely wasted now anyway, because we can't convert them.

Absolutely Jules. A good freekick/ corner taker and we have one of our biggest goal threats predating in the box.

Gerrards too much of a big man to let anyone else take corners!
This.

Also, it is always good to base a transfer fee on THE BEST FEW MONTHS OF FORM A BALDING MAN HAS EVER SHOWN IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER. Signed, Stephen Ireland.

Just his nose ?

After last night's performance I'm more convinced than ever that we should NOT pay over £5m for him. His lack of mobility will compromise the way we play in that others will have to cover for him. Yes he will give us a creative edge but he is a luxury player and there will be many games in which he would be surplus to requirements.

He actually reminds me a bit of LeTissier in that I loved watching LeTiss but was never convinced I wanted the lazy lard arse at Liverpool. Overall i would still like us to sign him because we lack creativity at present but £5m tops.

I disagree somewhat. He put in a near perfect display in the first half. Controlling the tempo, huge range of passing, tracking back, nutmegging. He was at the centre of everything that was happening on the pitch. The fact that a big occasion like facing the mancs seemed to get the best out of him has me convinced he can make the step up into a bigger team. We still shouldn't pay over the top of course. Offer £6-7m and if they reject we'll wait until summer when he only has a year left on his contract.

I think a lot of people are overlooking the position we are in and the need to grasp every opportunity we can to strengthen the squad as soon as we can , and stop getting wrapped up in a few milliican quid, that is for Fenway to worry about.

Regards

he's the new huddlestone.

unless we know that we can get him ten times fitter than he is right now, he'll be awful.

Exactly. There have always been doubts about his fitness and he hardly looks like an athlete. The way he faded in the 2nd half was alarming and I'm amazed Holloway didn't sub him. If he doesn't take his fitness seriously as an EPL player then signing him will always be a luxury and a risk.

That is for me the key area of concern as well.

He looked very good at times last night and especially in the first half he made some wonderful plays. However, the way he tired up torwards the end made him look more a liability than anything else.

Classy on the ball, quick in the mind and very industrious too but also kind of out of shape?

I'm sure we'll get him fitter, he'll also benefit from competition and not having to play every minute of every game.
