Charlie Adam

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has made a new £6.5million bid to sign Charlie Adam.

But Blackpool have turned down the offer, to the anger of their skipper.

And Adam’s father, Charlie senior, blasted the Seasiders and supremo Karl Oyston for wrecking the move and claimed it is a ‘revenge’ attack because of the bad blood between the player and the club.

He raged: “Blackpool are such a cheap-skate club.

“I don’t even think this is about money. It’s because Charlie took them to a tribunal over the bonus they owed him. This is their pay-back. They are saying ‘you won’t make anything out of this, we have got you under contract’.

“Liverpool’s offer is THIRTEEN times what Blackpool paid for Charles. And they are turning it down? They have been more than compensated for him already.

“Mr Oyston has got to realise it is somebody’s life and future that he is dealing with here. I think it is petty. This should be a time for common sense to prevail.â€

Dalglish increased his opening package deal for the Scottish midfielder in a desperate bid to bring the playmaker to Anfield before the window shuts.

But Ian Holloway’s club rejected the increased deal, despite the cash being £6m more than they paid for Adam when he joined from Rangers just 18 months ago.

Blackpool want closer to £12m and are refusing to budge.

Transfer-seeking Adam is demanding that Holloway and the other club officials sell him, and is complaining of being ‘blanked’.

Adam senior – himself a former player – claimed Holloway had told his son that Liverpool were an ‘exception’ to his rule about where he could go.

He added: “Blackpool have been ooking at other players. They could do without Charlie be safe.â€

Hes not worth that, no way, the fact that this saga has dragged on so long seems to have convinced people hes Cesc McFabregas but hes just a decent CM who has been in the news alot. Holloway has done a great job of inflating the fee, but as with us and Torres he doesnt have to sell his best player just because a club with more cash wants him

Quote of the day. Nice one. ;D

If they turned down 8.5 then we should look elsewhere.

We need a DM or a winger over Charlie Adam.

Adam is a decent player but let's get realistic. Time to walk away!

We could probably get Defour for £12M and he is a step or two up!

exactly, hes had a decent half a season in the premiership at a club with zero expectation. Im not trying to run him down he seems a decent player and at the initial $4m price we proposed he would be worth the gamble but for the sort of money being talked about now then you really have to start thinking would that money not be better invested elsewhere. Besides he is clearly not going to sign a new deal there so there is nothing to stop us going back in for him in the summer when they would be more receptive to a deal

Sir Alex Ferguson targets Charlie Adam as replacement for Paul Scholes

United target: Charlie Adam could be on his way to Old Trafford
Sir Alex Ferguson has joined the chase for Charlie Adam by targeting the 25-year-old Blackpool midfielder as the long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.
Adam made such an impression on the Manchester United manager in last week's Premier League five-goal thriller between the teams that Fergie is ready to make him a top-priority signing this summer.
Liverpool, desperately trying to land Adam before the transfer window closes tomorrow night, have doubled their original £4million offer but Blackpool are still holding out for more.
Ferguson has conceded it will take a eight-figure sum to persuade Blackpool to sell a player who was signed from Rangers for £500,000 in July 2009.
The United boss declared after his side's three-goal goal fight-back at Bloomfield Road: 'We couldn't handle Charlie Adam. His corners alone are worth £10m.'

I'm not shooting the messenger or anything, but that's bull. They all ready got Fletcher, Hargreaves, Anderson, Carrick, Gibson, not counting Scholes.

They are driving the price up is all

I honestly think Ferguson has something personal against Dalglish.

He knows he is a threat. He knows the king can play the media like him. You've seen what kenny has done in 3 weeks. And fergie only does things like this to threats. It's why he hates Benitez and despised Jose.

His twitterings midweek after their game against Blackpool suggested as much. He's a cunt,

If we are going to spend 12 million I'd be looking at Ever Bangea. 12 million will should get you a potential world class player. I think Charlie is a good player but he's never going to be world class.

£12 million would get you a seasoned international thats been playing in la liga for years. Fuck it's not far off what we paid for alonso! This prick is nowhere near £6 million ffs.Never mind double.

Been drinking heavily.

early candidate for POTY

Personally I think a lot of peeps on here don't know shite.
Fact is CA has been one of the top ten MF's in the prem this season, and one that would improve our team considerably...................don't worry about the dosh, there is only me and about four others on here stumping up our grand a year for the privilege - buy him

regards

This. I'm not really too bothered by the price. If the owners have the dosh, then why not. I think he can contribute significantly to a team like ours.

But i'm with Pasim on this one....i'd like us to get Andy King instead.

It would be nice to see a CM or a winger come in before the end of the transfer window for sure.

It's strange though; since Kenny is one reason that bastard kept the job in the late '80's.

Get Charlie Adam in the summer when his contract has run down.

Holloway stands to gain personally so that's the obvious reason for the demands.

What would Banega or Defour cost at the minute? That's a viable alternative to consider.
