If Mata is a priority then there's nothing to be done until after the U-21s finish. But it also makes sense to get business done when the opportunity arises ... not put it off until it's too late.

And our best player of last season is rumoured to be off.
 
The structure of his transfer means former club Rangers, manager Ian Holloway, Latvian co-owner Valeri Balokon and Adam are all due a percentage of any fee.

That will leave little left for the club coffers hence their strong bargaining stance.

To clarify i believed we would win the title BEFORE the transfer window began. I believe we had the players to do it once we brought in Suarez and Carroll.

This piss weak transfer window (thus far and it IS early days) has nothing to do with it.
If we sell Meireles, Kuyt, Maxi, Suarez, Gerrard, Reina, Carragher, Kelly, Carroll and Johnson i will resign my commision, if we dont then im convinced we will win the league.

Both the DA and 2nd Platoon believe in Ultimate Victory (TM).

Unlike the rest of you budding Douglas Haig's however, both myself and General Oncy have reservations about military decisions being taken, which look decidedly bollocks.
 
I'm pretty much split on all this specualtion tbh

Firstly the targets we've been linked with will i'm sure definitely improve our team/squad, but it is true that not one of the names so far has any outstanding quality or wow factor but they all seem to have fairly hefty price tags.

Secondly, did not Dalglish say stuff along the lines of we will go about things quietly and you wont know until we've made the signings etc?? Henderson was a complete surprise, no mention in the press etc... I'm not so sure that the players the press are banging on about are the same as the ones we are actually looking at tbh

Does it make sense to spend such a large chunk of money on homegrown and therefore premium priced players?
If Commoli has been working for the last six months planning all this then surely he must have seen something other than Stewart fucking Downing and Scott Dann??? SURELY??

Even if he hasnt though i'm sure the side will get better this summer... under the last owners we ended up with Alonso and Mash and Torres, great players its true but where are they now?? fucked off as soon as they could dint they... maybe there is a boring little logic to it all in going homegrown.

One star player though would really get us buzzing.

I'm not worried about who we buy. Our problem had been criminal lack of depth, and we're dealing with that this summer. Henderson, with potential signings of downing, adam and dann will improve us. Considering how we played under kenny, the addition of creative players like adam, downing and henderson could only gleam us more points.

And it's fucking early days in the window still
