TBH I don't mind this at all - so long as we have a reasonable option on them too. There won't be any difference in the salary (loan or purchase) and we actually get to see if they fit the team and are as good as we hope/expect. If we were buying them all at once then ... well it wouldn't happen. This is better than buying on the never-never !
 
Where does this leave the Siquera deal? I guess if we're getting Cissokho then he's off to Madrid.

For all the talk, we've done no more than tread water this window.

Apparently Granada wanted £12m all of a sudden so I guess that killed the deal and we went for Cissokho instead (if this loan deal is true).
 
A loan deal for a back up left back that might rediscover his form isnt a bad move.
I'd be more worried if we were looking at freebies and loans with our other transfers aswell.
 
Wtf is the deal with that Siqueira then? Thought him and Cissokho were both left backs?

Nah, its not that all. Dont see why paying 1 mill for a loan move is a bad thing compared to 6 mill for a transfer. Loan him for a season, if he impresses you sign him for a set fee.
Italian clubs have been doing this for years. Its not a positive spin its common sense.

If it was a positive spin I'd say we're signing a great left back who has gone through a bad patch for 2 years but will obviously rediscover his form at Anfield. I'm not saying that AT ALL. He could be fucking shite for all that I know.

They are.

It's been common practice for most teams to target two players for one position then they decide which one they want or have a back up if a selling club push for too much cash or there's another hiccup.

It also helps prevent the selling club jacking up the price too much as they know you have another option.

YESSS!!! Mr Rodgers good to his word that we would now be signing first team players to improve the first team and not a squad option then. This has got league champions written all over it.
Someone re-do that poll with this goppy fuckers name on it, i bet it will be a landslide. ERIKSEN? WILL.I.AN? FUCK THAT!! A free LB who cant get a game, now were talking.
 
Not sure this has gone through yet (but arangement in place) - could be a ploy to get Granada to be more sensible about their demands?

I'm hoping against hope that LB was seen by Rodgers as a position we could strengthen in, but not our biggest priority (as most on here do) so is keeping his powder dry for positions we really need to splash the cash on whilst trying this loan to possibly sort lb out.
 
At the very least this will give Enrique a kick up the arse. Although based on what Suso says, José will probably rather enjoy that.

Didn't one paper (perhaps Marca) report that our offer for Siqueira was less than what Madrid were considering offering?
 
Think they reported that he was valued at 12 mil €.
Granada are obviously holding out for Real to push the price up.
Thought the Echo said the price trebeled from our early inquiry?

Happy that we've walked away tbh.
 
I sorta knew we'd do something last minute leaving us wondering if our new signing would be available for saturday, I was hoping for Willian or someone exciting though :meh:
