Yeah, although the cheating in 2014-2018 has helped them win multiple titles since, as some of the players like KDB (bought in 2015) were integral to their successes going forward in 2022.

As I read this, it basically endorses most of what Der Spiegel reported - artificial sponsorship deals, diversion of player and manager salaries (so basically inflating revenue and understating costs).
I suspect the limited periods over which the charges have been made are just the ones that they have investigated - this stuff could still be going on, the PL just hasn't looked at the later years yet (possibly because they have more evidence on the earlier ones so it's easier to make a case).
I share the cynicism that they'll throw expensive lawyers at it and most likely get away with it, BUT:
- the people involved in a 4-year investigation aren't going to give up easily
- (I've said this before) the PL need to (be seen to) do a proper job on this because you can bet the other teams in the league (possible exceptions of Newcastle and Chelsea) will want to see City punished and will be very vocal about it.

Also, the difference between CAS and the Premier league is that there is no age limit to the documentation and evidence. Which is basically what got City off those charges.

More than that, the Premier League has a rule that says they can take information from any source, legitimate or not. So they can rely on “stolen” emails and the only defence City has is proving they are false, they can’t just say they were improperly sourced and therefore inadmissible.
I think we will actually get awarded a title retroactively, I think that because it won't offer any real joy, and that feels about right, doesn't it?
