City could have been in the family

Clearly FSG want someone to take a part of the club so they can bankroll the Anfield Road expansion without offsetting it against the clubs finances, at least initially.

Whether we leaked this or they did I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn FSG wanted his out there to bring other possible investors to the table.

And they're also saying the club is worth 2 billion. So they're setting their stall out. That's a crazy amount of dosh. I don't want Mansour's Del Boy cousin involved. Consortiums and hedgefunds. Fuck that. The FSG Lizards have been doing fine.

Not for me. The yanks have been ace. I knew they would be actually. I met one of the FSG guys in London just after the 'epic swindle' - He was sound and very sincere about the club and history. There was a touch of the lizard about him but I was convinced he was genuine. I think we are quite lucky to have them. Imagine a life of Hicks or shudders The Glazers!

This..

I always thought that FSG were just hanging around until they could make a big profit and then sell. But to turn down 2bn says to me that they must be looking at staying around for a very long time. They only paid 300m for us so that would have been some ridiculous profit. But fair play to FSG they have backed klopp financially...ok not to oil money level....but more than enough tbf.

Yeah for sure. Like I said I met one of the chairmen that day it all went bonkers at the Royal Court Of Justice. I thought he was a tourist at first. I think me and about 3-4 other reds were there and he chatted away quite happily to us. That twat from Sky Sports was there and kept trying to butt in but he just ignored him and wanted to chat to us. Asking us questions about the what we think about the owners and weirdly 'The Spirit Of Shankly' (does that even exist now?) We just said that we want someone who respects the club and it's traditions. Some guy cheekily said it would be nice to get a new stadium and maybe buy Messi. I remember he just laughed and said he'll see what he can do. I remember coming away from it all thinking fuck I hope these guys take charge. He was sound and seemed genuinly interested in sorting the club out.

They'll have looked at how much Arsenal were valued and bought at, and they'll use it as a yard stick.

They'll sell if the right, over the top offer came in. Right now thay value would be closer to £4bn than £2bn.

This is also how much they'll value a minority stake also, and put a premium on top to ensure a hostile takeover isn't a consideration.

Like um, or loathe um. We have improved ten fold under their stewardship. And we kept Anfield.. Huzzah!!

We were unlucky that Moores didn't sell off to Shinawatra all those moons back, we got HnG instead then Shinawatra sold on to the Emirates. I have enjoyed being morally superior over these years but at the same time I do like them trophies and I would have enjoyed us buying the league like Abramovich did and City have done. I could handle the shame.

The wider debate about the patent lunacy of excess cash in the game is a different debate...

FSG said that they would bring us the league when they bought us and on the whole, they have done well for us and dragged us out the mud but the Oil cash is here and it isn't going anywhere is it.

Being owned by a foreign country with a dodgy human rights record who are trying to purchase soft power via nice footy headlines... It hasn't done City any harm has it... I remember when City were fucking shit. Good God they were shit.

I prefer trying to do it "business style" but if this Emir is super uber mega rich and looking for a new toy then why not?

Personally, I really do not like the money bullshit going on but at the same time money is power and we can't deny it and it's here.

FSG seem to know what they are doing so maybe they could just get the chap on board as an investor?... Or maybe they are holding out for a Coutinho style bid... who knows... 2 billion... wow... the money is mental...

I suppose if you look back in time football clubs have always been owned by very rich families, it's just that now those families also own foreign oil fields.

I wish that our league operated a bit more like the Bundesliga with more fan power or better still was owned by the fans themselves, are Barca like that still??

I do know that IF we did win the league it would be a truly monumental explosion...

96,000 fans for a Friendly in Australia... we haven't won any trophies for a while but we can still do crazy shit like that... we are a fucking huge team.

Maybe a fucking huge wallet would not be so bad...

I agree; FSG has been good for us to such an extent that, without spending any of its own money pretty much, Liverpool is able to pay £75 million for a centre-half, £54 million for a goalkeeper (we haven't won the Premier and Champions Leagues, yet.) and breach the £40 million barrier for a player an additional three times.

I am glad this never took place coz although we wont know i guarantee behind the scenes there would be political stuff going on in the background. Imagine scenarios like that buyer being told that one of his business contracts can only happen if we sell Salah to City..or worse we have to throw away a game. Best solution is FSG to hold on with invesent from these arabs in the background.. best case scenario if its the saudi lot.

Seems the cousin of Mansour never had the money in the first place. All smoke and mirrors when he was asked to show the money.
