Cody De Facto

Nobody will talk about the missed sitters that were put on a plate for him by our RB's against PSV, Utd or City. All from 5 yards out and didn't hit the target with 1 of them.

The problem for Gapko is that he isn't a particularly creative wide player, as in, he rarely will create something you don't expect. He weighs in with assists and goals, but what he does is very sort of basic and predictable, yet productive.

Against some teams it works, against others he can seem pretty easy to nullify. That said, in terms of actual threat, he's doing what a striker should do, even if he's not giving much else, he's capable of scoring fairly regularly and enough for most top sides, he just lacks that cutting edge that would make him that next level of player. He's like a wide forward rather than a winger, he's got the goal knack and has plenty in his locker, but he doesn't have you on the edge of your seat. If you get to the end of the season and look back at his stats though, they are generally very good. He's a conundrum, he's boring as fuck to watch, but like against the Hammers, he manages to walk away with a goal and an assist and everyone just responds with a "meh".

25/26 - so far - 7 goal involvements in 13 league appearances.
24/25 - 15 goal involvements in 35 apps
23/24 - 13 goal involvements in 35 apps

He's another one of those players (we seem to have had a lot over the years) that is frustrating as hell to watch every week, yet when you get to the end of the season, his stats are great. He's scored 34 goals in the 2 full seasons he's been with us but I spend most of my time watching him wondering why he's in the team. A conundrum indeed.
