Cody De Facto

I am not criticizing Rio, because he's a kid and I don't expect much from him...

I don't think he caused chaos, I think he put in a decent little effort at lw but is also positionally all over the place. I don't think hes ready. He needs games elsewhere. We shouldnt be reliant on him in any way and we need better than what we have as a starter.

Rio gets seen as a solution for the same reason chiesa does ,because we would just rather see something different.

I agree. Hence why I was fucked off relying on a 17 year old as our only LW backup. It stank of bullshit then and it stinks more now.

Not playing him he's going to regress. He should have been loaned out this year to develop and we should have bought a 22-23 year old winger. If he's good enough he'll surpass them. If he's not we're sorted long term.

We fucked it

Don't worry, we are going to get to it later.

It was sad watching Dorgu terrorising Timber yesterday. It was such a stark contrast to our match when Timber had Gakpo in his pocket.

I don’t think Gakpo is a particularly special player but he’s better than Dorgu, right?

Despite being a Slot favourite, Gakpo’s underperformance is a lot down to Slot and his tactics

Speaking of this... Saka, the boy wonder, commentators breathless when this English wizard gets the ball...

I just looked at his numbers for last season and this in the league.

They are most comparable, on our team, to Cody gakpo. A bit better. Not much.

And he's on a team this year and last, where if anything they play through him way too much.

He's a better player but far less effective when it comes to stretching defences and pushing them back, Gakpo is near on useless in that regard because he loves to have 503 touches of the ball anytime he receives it. You have wingers in league 1 that do a better job of this, we've experienced that first hand 2 weeks ago.

Id like to see Gakpo tried on the right. Use his pace, take on a defender and whip a cross in.

Its absurd we never try the switch. Same with Mo. It gives the full backs something different to worry about, the CBs have to deal with crossed coming in much differently. The could be outswingers, they could be along the ground etc.

Fucking mix it up a bit.

Not to mention they'd both be on the correct side to put the ball into Ekitike, who is the only attacker of ours who can actually score.

But then we'll have 2 players who (at the moment) are struggling to make an impact and taking their only asset out of them.

Both are shite if they're not cutting inside and shooting.

He's scored 2 goals in his entire career at right wing and there is a reason he's more effective on the left.
I'd keep him away from that position.
At the moment his best position is the bench.

How do we know its their only asset? Maybe we'd see that Salah's pace is actually still electric if he knows he doesn't have to stop himself to cut back onto his left every single time.

They might also have a new and better angle to receive the ball at if they are the one on the receiving end of a cross from the other side.
