Sending out the batsignal to @gkmacca for this thread. So if the rumours are to be believed we shouldn't expect much in the way of big splurges this summer, with a focus instead of continuing the process of tying in our elite players. There also appears to be a commitment to leaving room for talent to come through from the academy and, perhaps, the group of loanees. Brewster is obviously very highly thought of, and all being well, will breakthrough next year, perhaps initially in the cups. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in preseason, as apart from the odd clip from academy matches, he's a complete enigma. As I've said before, it is time for Lallana to move on, and Wilson surely can provide more support in this squad than him. In tough games we could bring him on as a FK specialist too, as he is quite simply sensational over a dead ball. Does Hoever get a crack next season? Is there room for Grujic in the squad as a dedicated DM back up? Who else has a chance of breaking through into the squad next season?

Curtis Jones and Adam Lewis are the best prospects of the rest.

Would love both to get a good pre season with the seniors

I’m not sure that I would be massively fussed to see Salah go to be honest. First off I think he’s a great bloke and I don’t think he will go - there’s unfinished business here. But if he does, he will command a fee that will set us up for success in the transfer market. I’m also feeling that he won’t reach the same heights that has has from a goals perspective, so it may be the right time to cash in on him.

I'm keen to see if Paul Glatzel (he used to pronounce his name Powl ) eventually makes the step up.

I'd be a bit worried if we're largely relying on this current squad without major additions.

Even though there's no obvious weakness in our team, we need to bolster our ranks. We were a bit fortunate with injuries, and I highly doubt City will rest on their laurels despite having a much better squad than us.

We need cover for both fullback positions. Possibly a top quality central midfielder - Milner is getting on and I personally wouldn't trust Ox's long term fitness. A top class attacking player is needed also.

Upgrades on the outgoing players such as Moreno, Sturridge, Lallana (?) is what we need to improve the overall quality of the squad.

Blood through Brewster in a backup Solanke role of a couple of years ago. Hopefully he does it better than that spacker did, though.

Youtube of Wilson's highlights from this season. Seems a really cool headed lad. I'd consider giving him a place in the squad.

What's all this about Grujic doing well on loan? I'd pretty much written him off even though I liked him at first.

Is he worth a shot.

Personally I'm not sure about Wilson. I'd probably cash in on him, maybe with a buyback clause.

I watched a couple of the 'player watch' youtubes of his performances that were linked. He was a million miles off of Fabinho. Based on thoise alone (he was MOTM) I don't get the hype. No problem selling him for me.

are you referring to Grujic or Wilson?

I am not sure of this "not spending" bullshit. Citeh has just won the league and is rumoured to be strengthening the squad with 200M worth of talents. While we are dillying around relying on "prospects" when we obviously have the dough?

I just don't get it.

I think Salah actually played better this season than last.

Bizarre statement considering his stats that season, but his all round game was much better this season I think. He had to adapt his game as he was targeted much more & was so often surrounded by two or three players

Well apparently the club feel they have to start paying elite salaries seeing as we've rather stumbled on having a team full of elite players.

So that's going to be a very significant expense.

I still feel we need at least one top class attacker and a left back, plus a squad player in midfield. I think that should do us for now, particularly if Brewster and Ox step up next season.

Lallana, Moreno, Studge, Ming should free up at least 300-400k/week of wages. Even letting Studge's 100++k/week go should easily let us bring in an above average attacker, which i guess we would all agree is crucial in case any of the front 3 gets crocked.

Henderson moving into the more advanced positions frees up a space for Grujic. Henderson effectively takes Lallana's spot in the AM positions, who seems likely to depart back to Southampton if a deal can be agreed. I'm not sure his body is capable of playing Klopp's game any more.

I don't want to rely on Brewster or Origi next season. We need another quality attacker who can interchange across the positions if needed. We've been so fortunate with injuries in attacking positions over the last 18 months that it's easy to forget how threadbare we are. Yes Origi came in and stepped up when needed, but I wouldn't like to have to rely on that if Salah, Firmino or Mane broke a leg. Hopefully we invest in that this summer. With the CL final run there has to be sizable funds available.

I think Wilson may be worth a go. He has some different - runs well with ball in midfield (Keita like) but also really dangerous from distance and set pieces (maybe a bit like Shaqiri), but also seem to press well.

We have lacked a long range threat since Coutinho left - Shaq rarely hit from distance if not a free kick. Good possible back up to front three for free.

Not sure if he can make step up, but Championship is not easy (especially physically).

I haven't been that impressed when I've watched them this season. Admittedly I've only watched them a few times but his overall performances haven't been that great, just moments in games rather than the full match.

That Hoever does really look a player.

He and Brewster should defo make it. Curtis Jones very promising too.

Think the others are much longer shots tbh

The game against Wolved in the FA Cup, I thought thought Curtis and Hoever, were very good compared to the rest of the team.
